A. Overview

The Quarterly Bootcamps provide Ambassadors with an opportunity to demonstrate their mindset evolution, capability development, and leadership growth through real-world application.

The Weekly EXPOs serve as the Ambassadors’ training grounds—a space to practise, refine, challenge, and receive feedback on the skills and mindsets they are developing.

The Regional Weekly Initiatives, led by the Global Citizen Clubs (GCCs), take this learning beyond the EXPO. Ambassadors apply what they have learned within their local context and cohort, testing their understanding through real action, adapting to challenges, and strengthening their capabilities.

The experiences and outcomes from these initiatives are then brought back into the next EXPO. Ambassadors reflect on what happened, share their learning, learn from other regions, and use feedback to improve their next cycle of action.

The Quarterly Bootcamp is the culmination of this continuous development cycle. It provides a platform for Ambassadors to demonstrate their mindset evolution, capabilities, leadership, and real-world impact to an international community.

B. Roles

Participants & Roles

The programme follows a clear progression from regional participation → Ambassador training → session leadership → Bootcamp leadership. Each role contributes to the development cycle.

1. Participants

Members of local cohorts who take part in Regional Initiatives organised by the GCC.

Role: Participate, contribute, and engage in local initiatives.

2. Ambassadors

Members who receive structured training through the Weekly EXPOs and apply their learning through Regional Initiatives.

Role: Learn → Apply → Reflect → Grow.

3. Session Leaders

Ambassadors responsible for preparing and hosting the Weekly EXPO.

Role: Prepare, facilitate, and take ownership of the weekly session.

4. Sub-Leads

Leaders responsible for guiding their respective cohorts during Regional Initiatives, where applicable.

They coordinate participation, ensure members complete assigned activities and submissions, and support the application of EXPO learning.

Role: Lead the cohort and ensure local execution.

5. Bootcamp Commanders

Ambassadors selected to lead and coordinate the Quarterly Bootcamps.

Role: Lead the Bootcamp and demonstrate advanced leadership capabilities.

6. GCC Leads & Co-Leads

Regional leaders responsible for organising and overseeing Regional Initiatives, monitoring progress, and maintaining quality across cohorts.

Role: Lead the regional ecosystem and connect local action with the EXPO.

7. Mentors

Support the learning and development of Ambassadors through facilitation, coaching, and feedback.

Role: Coach, facilitate, and guide development.

3. The Development Cycle

Regional Initiatives → Weekly EXPO → Practice & Reflection → Quarterly Bootcamp → International Showcase

1. EXPO Preparation & Submission

Each EXPO begins with the preparation and submission of the weekly programme by the designated Session Leader.

The Session Leader may:

• Collaborate with another Ambassador, dividing responsibilities between story development and challenge creation;

  or

• Take full responsibility for developing the session independently.

The Session Leader is responsible for ensuring that the complete session package is prepared, uploaded, and ready for review.

Submission Deadline

All weekly session materials must be uploaded to the designated content area by:

Thursday, 8:00 PM Singapore Time

The submission should contain all materials required to facilitate the session, including the story, challenges, discussion questions, engagement activities, and any supporting resources.

Designated Content area AKA “the Knowledge base”

2. Quality Review & Finalisation

Submitted materials will be reviewed by the designated reviewers: JFP, Jacob, Luna, Halli, or Ale.

The purpose of the review is to ensure that each EXPO session meets the expected standards for:

• Content quality

• Relevance to the weekly theme

• Quality of questions and challenges

• Participant engagement

• Clarity of instructions

• Alignment with the overall Ambassador development journey

Any concerns, quality issues, or deviations from the expected standards should be raised in the Global Citizens Telegram group.

Where additional support is required, the matter should be escalated to SAHN by Friday evening 8 PM Singapore Time. JFP will then complete the final review and publish the materials.

Accountability

Quality is a shared responsibility, but the Session Leader remains accountable for the overall quality of the session.

If the content, questions, activities, or discussion do not meet the expected standard, this will be reflected in the session evaluation.

The same principle applies to the content-loading process. If the designated content loader has not received complete and quality-assured materials by the deadline, they should immediately raise the issue in the Global Citizens Telegram group rather than allowing the delay to continue.

Questions, uncertainties, and new ideas that emerge during preparation should be brought into the weekly coordination session so that the team can align, solve problems collectively, and continuously improve the EXPO.

3. EXPO Session Structure

Each EXPO is facilitated through a four-stage learning cycle designed to connect reflection, preparation, practice, and assessment. You can read more on the link belwo

01 — Discovery

Ambassadors begin by reflecting on their experiences from the previous week.

They share what happened when they delivered the previous session within their respective cohorts, including:

• What worked

• What did not work

• Challenges encountered

• Lessons learned

• Evidence of participant engagement

• Opportunities for improvement

The cohort dashboard and key performance indicators are also reviewed to connect individual experiences with measurable progress.

02 — New Theme & Detailed Plan

The mentor introduces the new weekly theme, including:

• Learning objectives

• Key concepts

• Expected mindsets and capabilities

• Story or context

• Implementation approach

• Regional initiative for the coming week

Ambassadors leave this stage with a clear understanding of what they are learning, why it matters, and how they will apply it.

03 — Role Play

Ambassadors practise the new concepts through role play and simulation.

This allows them to test how they will communicate, facilitate, respond to challenges, and apply the week’s concepts before taking them into their own cohorts.

The EXPO therefore becomes a safe environment to practise before entering the real-world environment.

04 — Quiz & Knowledge Check

The session concludes with discussion questions and a knowledge check designed to reinforce the week’s learning and assess understanding.

The Session Leader consolidates the questions, facilitates the final discussion, and summarises the key learning points.

4. From EXPO to Regional Action

The EXPO does not end when the session ends.

Following each EXPO, Ambassadors return to their respective regions and put the learning into practice.

Each member is expected to complete the initiative assigned to their region and document their experience.

This is where the EXPO learning is tested against reality.

Learn → Apply → Experience → Reflect → Improve

All challenge submissions must be uploaded to Padlet so they can be reviewed, evaluated, and shared across regions. All members are also required to complete the “How Do You Feel?” submission as part of their attendance, reflection, and journal process.

The Sub-Leads of each respective cohort if identified are responsible for ensuring that all members complete these requirements during the Regional Initiatives and that submissions are completed accurately and on time.

5. Post-EXPO Requirements

Within 24 hours after the EXPO, the Session Leader must submit a session summary.

The mentor will then provide an evaluation and feedback report.

All relevant documentation, including session summaries and evaluations, must be uploaded to Substack by Sunday night.

In addition, all members are expected to contribute comments and reflections to the relevant Substack article by:

Saturday, 5:00 PM Singapore Time

6. 360° Evaluation & Continuous Feedback

The EXPO development cycle is supported by continuous evaluation rather than a single end-point assessment.

The Global Citizen Club Leads monitor the quality and development of weekly sessions through multiple sources of evidence, including:

Journals & Reflection

Ambassadors’ journals are reviewed for the quality of reflection, depth of learning, and evidence of mindset development.

Peer evaluation is also incorporated through a 360° feedback process, allowing Ambassadors to learn not only from mentors but also from their peers.

Regional Challenges

Challenge submissions are evaluated by multiple levels of leadership, including:

• Bootcamp Commanders

• Sub-Leads of smaller cohorts

• GCC Leads and Co-Leads

Evaluators provide comments and feedback to help Ambassadors understand both their strengths and areas for development.

Cross-Regional Feedback

Ambassadors from other regions also participate in the feedback process by reviewing, commenting on, and engaging with challenge submissions.

This creates an environment where learning is not limited to one cohort or one region. Ambassadors are continuously exposed to different approaches, perspectives, and solutions from across the Global Citizen community.

7. The EXPO as a Continuous Development System

The EXPO is therefore more than a weekly training session. It is a development system that connects global learning with local action.

Every week, Ambassadors move through a continuous cycle:

Global Learning → EXPO Practice → Local Application → Evidence & Reflection → Peer Feedback → Improvement → New EXPO

Over time, these cycles accumulate into measurable mindset evolution, capability development, and leadership growth—which are ultimately demonstrated through the Quarterly Bootcamp and international showcase.

The EXPO is where Ambassadors caliberate.

The Regional Initiative is where they practise.

The Quarterly Bootcamp is where they demonstrate.

8. Monthly GCC Review & Mindset Calibration

Every month, the Global Citizen Club (GCC) comes together to review the macro-level behavioural and mindset changes emerging across the Ambassador community.

The monthly review provides an opportunity to:

• Identify significant behavioural and mindset shifts.

• Review progress against the expected development outcomes.

• Identify recurring gaps, challenges, or areas requiring deeper attention.

• Share observations and evidence across regions.

• Calibrate expectations and evaluation standards across GCCs.

• Determine any necessary upgrades or adjustments to the training, initiatives, and EXPO process.

This creates a higher-level feedback loop, ensuring that insights gathered from weekly EXPOs, regional initiatives, journals, challenges, and 360° feedback are not only used to evaluate individual Ambassadors, but also to continuously improve the overall development system.

D. Conclusion

The EXPO is designed as a continuous development ecosystem, connecting structured training with real-world action, reflection, feedback, and leadership opportunities.

Through this cycle, Ambassadors do not simply learn—they practise, apply, receive feedback, adapt, and grow. The Regional Initiatives provide the testing ground, the EXPO provides the space to calibrate, and the Quarterly Bootcamp provides the platform to demonstrate that growth.

Ultimately, the system creates a clear pathway from participation to capability, from capability to leadership, and from leadership to measurable impact.

Members of one of below group are eligible for Mindset Report:

Group 1: Young Ambassadors in The Learning Space

Mindset Report will be sponsored for Young Ambassadors only, in 2 main events:

• Event 1: Quarterly Mindset Report - released at the end of every Quarter, for Young Ambassadors who participated in & completed Weekly work for Expo sessions in the same Quarter and complete the Report Loop for the earlier Quarter (if any)

• and/or Event 2: Bootcamp Mindset Report - released at the end of Bootcamp, for Young Ambassadors who completed bootcamp

• Note: If the Young Ambassador is eligible for both Quarterly Mindset Report (participated in & completed Weekly work for Expo sessions) and Bootcamp Mindset Report (completed bootcamp), both reports will be merged into one, therefore one quarterly Mindset Report will be provided but include all feeds (performance, achievement, work, contribution…) from the bootcamp as well

It was a different kind of morning.

By Day 3, the room no longer felt like a place where instructions had to be repeated again and again. Children walked in already knowing where to sit, who they belonged with, and which faces felt familiar. There was less hesitation in their steps. Less scanning for safety. More quiet confidence.

Mission 1 — Story of Opportunity

Mission 1 asked something deceptively simple: tell a story about the opportunity you discovered.

It wasn’t just about filming or performing. It was about noticing, reflecting, and sharing what they saw as meaningful. The children were asked to think about:

• “Here’s the beauty I found.”

• “Here’s the hidden potential.”

• “Here’s what this could become.”

• “Here’s who it could uplift. ”

Some children jumped in immediately, their ideas spilling out as soon as the script was mentioned. Their energy was fast and bright. Others waited, watching carefully, thinking before speaking. A few had already pictured exactly how their story would flow.

Each reaction told me something about how they process the world. Quick sharers often think out loud. Quiet observers often process internally first. Both are equally valuable in creative work.

As they explored their villages, the smaller children were a little wild. Running, asking too many questions at once, forgetting instructions—they kept their ambassadors on their toes. Some ambassadors handled it calmly, guiding and explaining. Others looked a little tired but kept trying. Leadership isn’t about being loud; it’s about staying steady, even when chaos erupts.

When I asked children to say hello to the camera, responses varied: some waved eagerly, some hid behind friends, some laughed nervously, and some froze entirely.

Mission 1 is done, but the spark you found? That spark is yours to keep.

A Visit from the Principal

At 10 a.m., we paused for something special: a Zoom call with the principal of SD Model. DAV79 from Team FD, together with ELF, wanted to personally thank the principal. They spoke clearly and respectfully, and the principal responded warmly. You could see the alignment in vision—everyone understood why we were here and what mattered most: helping children explore, imagine, and learn.

Live Greeting

After that, Miss Zoura suggested a live greeting, giving DAV79 the chance to meet the children directly. The energy in the room shifted immediately. Children waved at the screen, some shyly, some with big, excited gestures. Laughter and small cheers filled the room. Their eyes were full of wonder, and you could feel how powerful simple human connection can be—even through a screen.

When Gadgets Take Over

After the children finished their Mission 1 videos, a new challenge appeared: free time.

Some children were full of energy, running around and laughing. Others picked up gadgets—phones, tablets, and screens became the main activity for many. At first, it seemed harmless: a game here, a video there. But soon, I noticed something important. Attention drifted. Focus shifted. Conversations stopped. The younger children became louder, running around and testing boundaries, while some older kids lost track of the task at hand. Even some ambassadors—the ones supposed to guide their teams—looked a little distracted and tired. A few picked up their own devices, forgetting to model focus and patience.

It was a small reminder of how tricky balance can be. Gadgets are not “bad,” but they can take over if there’s no guidance. Without attention, even a small free moment can become chaotic.

Still, not all responses were the same. Some children chose a quiet corner to draw. Some giggled while inventing games with friends. Miss Qilla sat with a few of them, guiding and supporting their focus without taking away their freedom.

Watching this, I realized something: even ambassadors need support to stay regulated, and children need a structure that gives both freedom and focus.

A Visit from Alaska

After lunch, when the children were a little sleepy but still full of energy, we had two special guests: one from UII and a student from Alaska participating in a school exchange. They came with Pak Adi, who suggested that the Alaska student give a short speech to the children.

The room was messy and chaotic at first. Children were scattered everywhere—some sitting, some standing, some leaning on tables, and a few even hiding behind bookshelves. Laughter, whispers, and running feet made it feel like a storm of energy.

Slowly, something beautiful started to happen. As the Alaska student began speaking, curiosity began to pull the children in. The ones hiding behind bookshelves peeked out, then carefully stepped forward. Little by little, the chaotic energy settled. Children leaned in, focused on the screen, their eyes bright with wonder.

Hands shot up. Questions poured out:

• “Where do you study?”

• “What is it like in Alaska?”

• “Can I study there someday?”

• “Is it very cold?”

Some children whispered excitedly to each other, imagining possibilities they hadn’t thought about before. Others sat silently, listening intently, absorbing the new perspective.

It was fascinating to watch. Their questions weren’t just about a distant place—they were about possibility, ambition, and imagining a life beyond what they know today. You could feel their minds stretching, picturing themselves somewhere far away, learning new things, meeting new people.

I reminded them gently: curiosity is the first step toward any journey. Asking questions, listening, and imagining are just as important as taking the first step in real life. Even if visiting Alaska feels impossible right now, the spark of interest planted today could grow into something real in the future.

The Alaska student’s presence wasn’t just a speech—it was a window into a bigger world and a reminder that even the shyest child can step forward when curiosity leads the way.

Mission 2 — Clarifying, Guiding, and Sharing the Video

During the Zoom call with ELF001, some ambassadors quickly understood the instructions and were able to guide their teams effectively. But when I approached other teams and asked children what they understood, many couldn’t explain it yet. This showed me clearly that understanding doesn’t happen automatically—even for older children, and especially not for the smaller ones.

The room was chaotic at times. Some children ran around uncontrollably. Others played games or got distracted by gadgets. One even accidentally hurt themselves while moving too fast. The ambassadors looked a little tired, trying to manage the energy, clarify instructions, and keep everyone focused.

I spent some time checking in with each team, re-explaining the task for those who hadn’t fully understood. Slowly, the children began to grasp what was expected. Once I was confident that most of them understood the task, we moved on to the next step: presenting their videos.

Even while the videos were being played, the room wasn’t completely quiet. Children were still chatting, laughing, and moving around—but there was also excitement in the air. I decided to capture the moment on video, recording their reactions, their laughter, and their interactions. These glimpses showed not just their creativity, but their personalities—the curious, playful, and sometimes chaotic energy that makes learning so vibrant.

Watching the videos, I noticed differences between the teams. Some teams had included all their members, making sure everyone had a role in presenting or acting. Other teams left some children out, either because the shy ones didn’t want to participate, or because the ambassadors hadn’t found a way to include them yet. Some videos covered all the points we suggested, while others focused on only part of the story.

*I reminded the children that it was okay if not everything or everyone appeared in the video. What mattered most was effort, participation, and sharing their ideas. One ambassador, excited and motivated, suggested making a new video to capture more points. But I encouraged them to focus on making the most of what they had created, celebrating their teamwork and creativity rather than worrying about perfection.

By the end, every village had shared its story. Some videos were playful and imaginative, others structured and thoughtful—but all reflected the children’s ideas and teamwork.

A Message for You

If you’re reading this:

It’s okay if your video isn’t perfect. It’s okay if some members couldn’t be in the video, or if some points weren’t included. What matters is that you tried, shared your idea, and worked together as a team.

Being brave enough to present, collaborate, and show your imagination is already a huge achievement. Keep asking questions, clarifying with your teammates, and sharing your spark—the world needs it.

A call was arranged at 6:00 Singapore time to conclude the 3 days activities - this was a little delayed compared to our initial plan provided by the Bootcamp Commander (BC).

The room carried a quiet energy as members gathered—some confident, others still finding their rhythm. One voice broke the silence: “So… what happens next?” The question became the starting point for reflection.

The facilitator responded with calm clarity, reminding everyone that progress rarely follows a straight line. “This isn’t about getting everything right,” they said. “It’s about staying curious and continuing to show up.” Heads nodded. The room softened—relief paired with a renewed sense of responsibility.

A member spoke next, reflecting on teamwork challenges and small wins. “I didn’t realize how much we learned just by trying,” they admitted. That honesty opened the conversation. Others shared how documenting thoughts, emotions, and actions helped them notice growth that wasn’t immediately visible.

One member voiced a deeper struggle: “I’m frustrated because I can’t manage my emotions properly—and I have to repeat this over and over again.” The moment landed quietly, met not with judgment, but understanding. It became a reminder that growth often requires revisiting the same lessons, patiently and consciously.

The discussion then turned to responsibility. “Leadership at this stage isn’t a title,” the facilitator noted. “It’s what you practice when no one is prompting you.” Postures shifted. Attention sharpened.

As the session closed, the message was clear. The journey continues. There is more capability to build and more ownership to take. What mattered most wasn’t perfection—but resilience, commitment, reflection, and the courage to keep moving forward together.

A. Presentation Day — 27 December

On 27 December, each Ambassador will have 5 minutes to present the value of their village.
You may use videos, visuals, and your Village Journal to showcase the teamwork and collaboration you’ve built.

• Parents are warmly invited to attend and join the experience.

     Village Leaders are responsible for following up and ensuring every member completes both entries. Some may assume the Bootcamp is finished and switch into “bye-bye mode,” but this is where leadership capability is truly tested.

   We are still missing videos and photos of several team members. This is partly because not every moment could be captured, partly because some materials are still being processed, and also because many members were understandably easing in during Days 1 and 2.
   

   Our teammates, Sasa and Quilla, have kindly supported by recording cohort videos and sharing some updates across other groups to keep everyone informed. While helpful, these will not be sufficient for the final compilation.

   Before the official material is released on the Team’s YouTube channel, we kindly request that you send us any videos or photos you have, so we can consolidate and upload them accordingly.

i. Value Erosion

During the discussion, Aquilla raised a crucial concern about ambassadors becoming overly dependent on AI and slowly losing the deeper purpose of the mission. She shared how Mika began Mission 1 by copying what others were doing, relying on AI simply because his fellow ambassadors were doing the same. But very quickly, she explained, “he realized… oh, this is cheating,” and made the deliberate choice to stop and rely solely on his own ideas. Aquilla encouraged him to speak to Rafi, reminding him, “Tell him he’s better than the AI itself… he’s more capable than the AI,” even joking lightly to DAV79, “You know, AI is stupid, right?” She added that she had tried guiding Rafi as well, but “Rafi won’t listen,” and highlighted how proud she was that Mika understood the importance of thinking for himself.

DAV79 acknowledged the insight—“Okay, very nice”—and expanded on the deeper danger: when ambassadors use AI for the cosmetics of a task—quick humor, flashy wording, shortcuts—they begin drifting away from the real mission and gradually lose the ability to think independently. He explained that while Rafi uses AI to make things fun, this risks eroding clarity, purpose, and originality. To counter this, he suggested adding reflective questions such as:
“How much did you challenge the AI?”
“What did the AI get wrong?”
These cues push ambassadors to stay thinkers, not followers.

He then recommended holding a small breakout session:

• To Rafi: “You can use AI, but challenge it.”

• To Mika: “How did you challenge the AI? Can you share with us?”

• Back to Rafi: “What would you do differently?”

He reminded Aquilla to monitor emotional cues — step back if they shut down, and if they resist, switch them into writing mode until their clarity returns. He closed the segment with a firm reminder: ambassadors simply cannot score well if they allow AI to think for them. The program rewards individual capability, depth, and authentic non-conformity — and these values erode when we blindly outsource our thinking.

Aquilla agreed, and the team committed to helping ambassadors stay anchored in deeper purpose, resist shortcuts, and build the courage to think differently.

So now the real question becomes: What would you do?

ii. Inclusivity

During the recon, Ms. Z brought forward two major observations. The first concerned a boy in Kafisha’s group who spoke English (and some Javanese) but not Bahasa, leaving him isolated when the group discussed everything in Bahasa. Instead of expecting him to struggle alone, DAV79 suggested flipping the dynamic: let the group learn from him. He recommended giving the boy a special mission — sharing what he understood so far, recording a 30-second video, or presenting his ideas in English. The other members would then prepare notes, read related articles, and explain the concepts back to him. This approach transforms the situation into a collaborative learning engine: the boy becomes a valued contributor, and the group grows stronger by supporting him.

The second issue involved a cluster of younger kids who were becoming bored, falling behind, and retreating into silence. DAV79 advised a strategic shift: assign the older kids the responsibility of putting the younger ones in the spotlight. Give the younger kids visible roles, simple missions, and opportunities to present, while the older ambassadors guide, support, and elevate them. This keeps the younger children engaged while teaching the older ones leadership, empathy, and the essential ability to bring others along — a core bootcamp expectation.

Ultimately, the message was clear: true growth in the bootcamp comes from developing the ability to sense others, include them, and step into the role of an outreacher — someone who doesn’t just lead, but lifts. An outreacher isn’t defined by speed or solo brilliance, but by the ability to expand the circle and elevate those around them. When ambassadors adopt this mindset, they begin to embody deeper business values: growth built not in solitude, but in harmony. It transforms them from individual performers into ecosystem builders — sensing the needs of the group, guiding others, translating complexity into clarity, and creating impact by elevating the whole, not just themselves.

This shift — from individual output to collective uplift — is what shapes true non-conformists who thrive creatively, responsibly, and with purpose.

iii. Purpose

As the recon continued, Ms. Z raised another concern: the case of Kieren. She explained that Kieren performed exceptionally well on Day 1 — focused, disciplined, proactive, and clearly leading his team. But she noticed something important: his father was present that day.

The moment his father was no longer around on Day 2, everything changed.
Kieren’s behavior shifted sharply. He began to lose focus, stopped taking initiative, and instead of leading his team, he simply followed whatever his peers were doing. When one teammate started watching YouTube, Kieren followed along immediately. The strong, disciplined “Day 1 Kieren” disappeared as soon as the “eyes” that motivated him were gone.

DAV79 acknowledged the rapid expansion of the bootcamp — nearly 50 locally, plus Bali and Singapore bringing the global number to around 70 ambassadors. “It’s impossible to monitor everyone constantly,” he said, explaining that this bootcamp’s mission is exactly that: to test who can operate without external motivation, who can lead themselves when no one is watching.

He guided Ms. Z on how to support Kieren:

• Give him a pep talk.

• Remind him that “your team is watching.”

• Document the drop in focus and ideation.

• Use the emotion tracker, just as Singapore uses cameras to keep standards high.

Kieren wasn’t disciplined out of fear — he wanted to impress his father. Without that presence, he lost motivation and direction. “He needs to know the 360 is watching,” said DAV79 — a metaphor for the internal energy meter that tracks consistency and leadership. Kieren knows what to do, but he must learn to do it without needing eyes on him. For someone who dreams of becoming a future military CEO, this internal discipline is non-negotiable.

To reinforce the message, DAV79 suggested creating a dedicated Substack note documenting Kieren’s Day-2 performance, alongside photos and team updates. The mission is to observe how well the kids perform without being micromanaged — who maintains momentum, who collapses, and who grows.

Other Notes

Ms. Z then raised a logistical challenge: several children did not have gadgets for the quiz. The ambassadors weren’t sure how to solve it, so Ms. Z instructed them to have these kids write their answers in their journals, take photos, and upload them to Padlet. DAV79 streamlined the system by creating an “offline quiz input” section for children without gadget access or those using parents’ email accounts. With these refinements in place, he encouraged Ms. Z to share the updates at the next huddle and reconvene afterward to finalize the notes and upload the articles.

Another calming, no pressure morning for the kids and the ambassadors.

ELF001 had network issues and was late again by 20 min. Luckily for her most of the members joined in foir a quick update at 14:20 Singapore time.

Notes from Aquilla,

First things first, as usual: first come, first serve for team members who hadn’t finished their quiz yet. This happened because some kids didn’t understand the questions, and some didn’t have a phone or tablet to complete it. Me and Mrs. Sasa took turns explaining the quiz, especially to kids who were a bit… well, quiet when it came to answering questions. Each ambassador also helped translate the quiz questions for their team members who didn’t understand English very well.

Suddenly, Mrs. Zoura asked everyone to pay attention to the scoreboard. Everybody went silent.

“Does anybody know why Giani is the highest out of all of you? Because she and her entire team have finished all their quizzes. And look at your scores,this means some of you haven’t done it yet. So chop chop, let’s finish the quiz first before we hop into Mission 1.”

I went around to other teams to check if there were still members who hadn’t finished yet. That’s when I noticed someone from a certain village,who is also an ambassador,was using AI to answer everything. I didn’t want to call it out, but this shows a tendency to use AI to cheat, not to help.

For that certain someone: please learn to control your use of AI. You are more capable than that so-called AI. You’re smarter than it. It’s okay to use AI, but it should be your helping partner, not something that replaces your beautiful, original ideas.

Moving on to Mission 1!

Everyone was writing down ideas, but I had been observing one ambassador for a while. On Day 1, things were easy for him because his parents were beside him during every mission. This time, he was panicking a bit and losing focus, so we had to repeatedly tell him what to do before he could start. That’s a bit of a worrying sign, but I really hope he’ll learn to be more independent without constant guidance. Good luck out there!

Everyone finally finished Mission 1, good job!

As a volunteer, I helped them record videos of them explaining what they did for Mission 1: Imagination Lab.

Students expanded their opportunities by asking:

What if this was 10× bigger?

What if this reached people outside my country?

What if technology unlocked this?

And many more.

They will be selecting 5–7 ideas from Mission 2 / Day 1: Who wrote the most unique “What ifs”?

“WHOEVER’S TEAM IS DONE WITH THEIR VIDEOS, THEY CAN GET THEIR SNACKS!”

That sentence made everyone rush to the volunteers to record their videos as fast as possible.

Snack break time!

Everyone was enjoying their snacks, and the volunteers took a break as well. It was fun, everyone was using the Wi-Fi to play games and watch YouTube, which was fine. But to encourage more social interaction instead of endless TikToks, Mrs. Zoura turned off the Wi-Fi lol.

Anyway, back to Mission 2!

THE SPARK (The Original Opportunity)

Time for lunch break! The noodles made everyone a bit sleepy and overactive, but nothing stopped them from completing their missions.

To refresh their energy, each village got the chance to create their own games as ice breakers. Laughter and screaming filled the room, my ears were ringing, but I was happy to hear them having fun.

They had really cool imaginations and ideas, especially two specific teams that already stood out in my mind as the most unique. Keep it up!

Then we moved on to Mission 3: MAKE A ROUGH PROTOTYPE

Create a simple prototype that shows the future version of the opportunity.

Everyone’s eyes were glued to their papers. Some ideas were really strong, using the observe, imitate, modify technique. Some went full sci-fi with robots and advanced technology. Some ideas were simple, which made them more citizen-friendly. Others were very organized and architectural.

So happy for you all!

Even though some of you, especially ambassadors, still needs improvement in your leadership mindset, remember this: you’re growing every day, every minute, every second of your lives. So start young, and think big, and always be curious! ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS TO YOURSELF!

Today as usual was messy, loud, funny, tiring, and meaningful all at once. Not everyone was ready, not everyone was focused, but everyone learned something, about ideas, teamwork, and themselves. I’m proud to be part of this journey, watching small sparks slowly turn into something bigger.

Day 2 is done, and we’re just getting started!

Sasa also filled us in with her notes. In addition to everything already covered, she shared further reflections that gave a clearer picture of Day 2: the scramble to finish quizzes, the effort to support quieter students, and the reminder that AI should be a learning companion—not a shortcut.

She observed ambassadors navigating independence, students pushing their imaginations further, and the hilarious chaos of rushing for snack-time video submissions. She noticed creativity blooming in prototypes, leadership still developing, and teamwork slowly taking shape. Her notes yet again reiterated the messy, loud, growth-filled spirit of the day from a closer, more personal angle.

The huddle meeting on 23 December focused on several key issues, including incomplete team data, missing journals, unclear mission submissions, and inconsistent documentation across Substack, dashboards, journals, and Padlet.

Some planned activities—particularly the Day 1 journals that were meant to be prepared and published earlier—were missed due to long and demanding days. In Singapore, participants were engaged in intensive physical and cultural activities at the National Gallery and around the Esplanade. In Jogja, teams were deeply immersed in sharing their learnings with one another, and journals were steadily being filled. Activities in Bali were also ongoing and highly engaging - but feeds were a lot lesser.

The discussion centred on improvement, personal reflection, and emotional awareness—how participants felt, what they learned, and their level of excitement. Several participants had missing or incorrect team details, prompting urgent follow-ups. Verification of Jogja-side participants and village assignments was assigned accordingly.

There was a strong emphasis on storytelling over simple reporting. Participants were encouraged to add reflective captions to photos that captured emotions, learning moments, and interactions. The daily narrative summary was handled by Aquila, supported—but not replaced—by Sasa, and her work from the previous day was noted as excellent.

DAV79 later shared his appreciation, noting that he really loved Aquila’s notes and highlighting how deeply immersed she was in the activity while carefully capturing feedback and insights throughout the session. As the volunteer from Mata Aksara, Jogja, Aquila demonstrated strong promise and growing global capabilities. “Brilliant Job Kid!” he wrote on the tele group.

Sakha shared that Day 1 was chaotic, as his team consisted of young children who struggled to cooperate and had limited English skills. Despite this, he remained patient, avoided frustration, and adapted by explaining tasks clearly. Through structured guidance, he helped his team identify problems and solutions, improving their market sensor capability in Abbey Village. DAV79 guided Sakha to reflect on how this increased the “value” of his village by strengthening problem-solving skills.

Giani reflected on initial excitement during registration but faced challenges explaining concepts to her team, including a six-year-old participant. She adapted by using Indonesian and real-life examples. With guidance from DAV79, Giani identified that she increased her team’s confidence, especially through creative activities like drama for Mission 1, while learning to balance attention across members.

Jayden shared that he enjoyed reconnecting with friends and identifying real-world problems, such as broken facilities. DAV79 expanded Jayden’s thinking by introducing three ways to create value: repairing issues, expanding usefulness, and innovating—emphasizing innovation as the strongest lever.

Ms. Zoura praised Sakha, Jayden, and Giani for showing initiative during chaos and inspiring others. Action items included ensuring team members complete quizzes, with Sakha assisting only in submission—not answers—and improving tracking by identifying ambassadors in quizzes.

Action Items for ELF001

• Release Mission 1 at 9:00 AM SGT, Mission 2 at 1:00 PM SGT, and Mission 3 at 3:00 PM SGT.

• Follow up to ensure all member names and team assignments are complete and accurately recorded.

• Launch quizzes punctually at 4:00 PM SGT.

• Publish a consolidated daily summary by 10:00 PM SGT.

• Conduct a separate reconciliation session at 11:00 PM SGT for selected group members, if required.

• Ensure all mission submissions are centralized under “Campaign Challenges” for consistency and tracking.

Some of the team leads and the parents shared reflections on managing participants, language barriers, and confidence-building—highlighting leadership growth, patience, and value creation within villages.

Wiati from SMPN 7 Bali shared key learnings from Alasangker Village. She observed that many small shops still record sales manually, making it hard to track real profits—creating an opportunity for a simple digital bookkeeping tool. Many youths have creative skills but lack guidance to earn income, highlighting the need for basic mentoring to secure first clients. Waste sorting fails due to inconvenience, suggesting community-based systems with schedules and incentives. Traditional snacks lose out due to weak packaging, opening space for better branding and online marketing. Lastly, offline-only local services could benefit from simple online booking and promotion.

During yesterday’s bootcamp, an incident occurred in the village auditorium involving a young participant from one of the groups. The child became upset and started crying after being assigned a role in a drama activity that he did not like - or probably not familiar with. The Young ambassador who was the “smurf head of the village” was initially unsure how to calm the first grader and escalated the situation for guidance, which was acknowledged as a learning challenge. The facilitator then spoke gently with the child and offered some snacks. Although the child initially refused and asked to go home, he eventually calmed down, ate, and agreed to return the following day when invited.

The young Ambassador later shared some aspects of the day through her mother, reflecting on the challenges, small learning moments, and personal growth experienced during the bootcamp.

She shared that when she arrived home, she reflected on how intense the bootcamp was. Although it only lasts three days, caring for young children requires constant attention. Her group included first- and third-grade participants—some very expressive and fluent in English, others struggling to speak confidently. She saw this as a personal learning experience in understanding different needs and conditions.

Later that evening, she jokingly reminded me that there was a specific Global Citizen T-shirt to wear and she was the only ambassador who forgot. I apologised for missing that detail. Fortunately, she took it lightly and wasn’t bothered by standing out.

When asked about the lesson from the child who cried, she reflected honestly. She realised she had assigned roles without first asking for preferences. While most children were excited, she learned that not everyone felt comfortable. She shared that next time, she would invite participants to choose roles themselves or negotiate together, turning it into a more inclusive and thoughtful process.

Meanwhile, in another part of the world in Vietnam, LIN91 and her bots were actively crunching feeds and data in preparation for reports that would later be shared with the young ambassadors and the documentation team.

One of the participants in Singapore became particularly selective and emotional, even crying due to the unfamiliar level of physical activity. While the children were excited by the new experiences, the long day left many of them tired. Concerned, the parent asked DAV79 why her child was behaving that way.

DAV79 explained that children often struggle to absorb too many new variables at once, which can trigger fear or discomfort. Some can’t articulate yet - some respond by trying to stay in control—rejecting new experiences or resisting change. He reassured her that this is natural and that, over time, the child would learn to build tolerance by gradually strengthening critical thinking and self-awareness.

With a gentle nod, he assured her that the programme would support that development.

Chapter I

Once the session settled, DAV79 brought the group into focus with a firm reset. There was no warm-up, no easing in—only clarity.

DAV79: “Next time, remember that before the session starts, you need to get this done.”

The room quieted. ELF 001 acknowledged quickly. Wiati responded with a brief confirmation. Others remained silent—not disengaged, but attentive. The tone was set: this was not a discussion about leadership; this was leadership in action.

DAV79 moved immediately into accountability.

DAV79: “Nobody went through the ‘how do you feel’ yesterday. Why was that?”

There was a pause. No one challenged the question. Ratna admitted she had fewer members than planned. Intan confirmed she understood but had not completed everything yet. The responses were short, honest, and corrective rather than defensive.

DAV79 did not linger on excuses.

DAV79: “If you don’t read it, then you cannot run it. When you’re with your friends, we won’t be there. You must explain what is a global citizen, what is entrepreneurship.”

Wiati: “Okay.”
Intan: “Yes.”
Ratna: “Okay.”

Understanding began to solidify—not emotionally, but structurally.

The discussion then shifted to scoring, and Z broke the silence with a clarification.

Z: “So the contribution of the team was reflected in the comments only?”

DAV79 answered without hesitation.

DAV79: “No. One source was comments. Another was the journal. Then activity reflections. And finally, the presentation.”

Z: “Okay.”

No debate followed. The system was accepted as given.

Next came the pressure point: naming team members.

DAV79: “If you don’t give the names, we don’t know who they are. And then you don’t get the score.”

Sakha confirmed his members. Ghanim named his parents. Ratna admitted she had only one instead of four.

DAV79 responded evenly.

DAV79: “Then go and make four. Giving names removes flexibility. Once you give the names, you must make sure they come.”

Each member responded with agreement. No one resisted. The discomfort was visible—but productive.

Then the session tightened.

DAV79 turned to ELF 001, addressing selective follow-through.

DAV79: “You cannot be complacent. If you selectively do things, that is bias, not governance.”

ELF responded quietly. Others stayed silent. The silence was not avoidance—it was recognition.

DAV79 continued, anchoring the correction in principle rather than blame.

DAV79: “If people don’t walk the path, the government changes the path. If you don’t sense what’s happening, you fail as a leader.”

The room absorbed it. Wiati asked DAV79 not to be angry with ELF 001, explaining that it had been her mistake.

Sensing the weight of the moment—and to reassure the participants—DAV79 reframed.

DAV79: “This is not anger. This is correction. This is training for leadership, entrepreneurship, and character.”

Wiati stepped in to confirm she would follow up with others. Sakha confirmed clarity. Intan agreed to update names. Ratna acknowledged responsibility.

By the end, the conversation no longer needed momentum. It had alignment.

The session closed not with motivation, but with action: read, comment, name teams, submit journals, follow up. No one argued. No one negotiated. Everyone understood. Only time would test who was going to be ready.

The discussion continued its work—not by consensus, but by structure meeting reality.

Critical notice: Everyone was required to upload their journal and put in their best possible effort. This was not a formality or a namesake submission—it was a test of seriousness and ownership. Journals did not need to be perfect, but they did need to reflect genuine effort and thought.

All submissions were to be reviewed by this afternoon. Any sign of complacency would result in minus scores. Scoring had officially begun.

Because ELF001 was not adequately prepared, she was given an extended training period across all days, and all members were encouraged to sit in if additional support was needed. However, the lack of readiness resulted in a minus score for wasted time. This was a corrective measure, not a punishment.

The same standard applied to all ambassadors. No one was exempt. Training extensions were a privilege meant to enable improvement—not a buffer against accountability. Effort, preparation, and execution were now being measured in real time.

This phase of the program marked a shift: from learning to performance.

Chapter II

Meanwhle, the parents in Jogja via Z sent over a plan to assemble at one of the local schools in Jogja to reinforce some of the ambassadors and also to ensure each had enough members in their village.

In the earlier session Kayobi and Bim Bim joined in too and Wiati was tasked to talk with Mr Putu to attempt to bring in Sekar, Anguma , Puspadi , Anguma , Ella , Jesika and a few members. Some of them had competition and it was difficult for them - but the team depended on Mr Putu to reach out and see if a Jogja styled arrangement could be done at Bali as well.

A zoom session was called in the update the entire activity as per the collaboration MoU after 5 days of training. Members were slowly getting it.

The session unfolded as a working discussion rather than a formal briefing. DAV79 opened calmly, acknowledging attendance gaps and late arrivals, then moved straight into execution mode.

DAV79: “No problem. As usual, people… we’ll focus on the activities.”

Z stayed actively engaged, clarifying logistics, attendance, and technical concerns, especially around connectivity and coordination with schools.

Z: “We just need to be aware if the internet is stable… we should prepare a modem.”

Throughout the session, DAV79 shared his ongoing work on mindset articles and framed the bootcamp as preparation for real-world pressure—competition, responsibility, and uncertainty.

DAV79: “If I don’t complete this, I’ll ignore it forever—and that’s a problem.”

When Sasa joined, she shared her academic uncertainty. DAV79 responded firmly but supportively, reframing the challenge as ownership.

DAV79: “This is your battle, but you’re not alone. You’re being evaluated on how you fight it.”

The focus then shifted to Aqila, a Mata Aksara volunteer. She clearly articulated her role:

Aquila, a volunteer from Mata Aksara, was once again entrusted with a critical set of responsibilities. Her role was clear and multi-layered: to support members who raised questions, to track and report the evolving mindset of each participant, and to surface any issues or challenges observed on the ground. Beyond this, she was tasked with completing the program documentation—capturing perspectives and reflections, strengthened by video testimonies from parents, participants, ambassadors, and teachers.

Aqila: “My mission is to support, report the plus and minuses, and document.”

DAV79 affirmed her understanding and emphasized emotional resilience, reflection, and observation as part of leadership training. Z reinforced this by encouraging openness and learning through action.

This wasn’t a passive role. It positioned Aquila as a listener, observer, and integrator—someone responsible not just for execution, but for meaning.

The session closed with shared alignment: Mata Aksara would act as a support structure, volunteers would observe and document mindset shifts, and challenges were treated not as problems—but as part of growth.

The true value of Mata Aksara emerges when huddle groups are formed within each cohort at a single, centralized basecamp organized by Mata Aksara. This structure enables villages with fewer members to onboard new participants, strengthening their numbers while extending the reach and continuity of the activity.

Just as importantly, it helps build confidence among ambassadors. Navigating unfamiliar environments can trigger panic for some, while others may face tests of friendship, moments of rejection, or interpersonal conflict. The basecamp becomes a safe space where ambassadors not only collaborate but also learn how to face discomfort, manage conflict, and grow through it.

To further support Mata Aksara, Sasa, Team FD’s in-house psychology specialist, was available for three days to provide guidance and emotional support throughout the program. In addition, DAV79 planned to invite Dr. Firtiah, Dean of a psychology institute, and Dr. Tri, a neuropsychologist by training, to further strengthen the support framework for participants who may experience periods of emotional or psychological overwhelm.

Chapter III : the Expo Update

In the evening, during the EXPO session the team managed to get BLCOP , Trita, Kyla and Luna. Tria and Kyla were new and therefore DAV79 was easy with them. But BLCOP had sat in on several bootcamps in the past years and also led some of them. Luna was the leader from the session in Daily discovery in Vietnam.

The final day of training made one thing unmistakably clear: this bootcamp was not symbolic—it was operational.

DAV79 opened by anchoring the moment in time and effort.
“We’ve completed five days of training… this is quick, daily, disciplined work,” he said, emphasizing consistency over comfort. The message was firm but reassuring: perfection was not required—effort was.

That distinction became real when Giani presented her journal. Despite attending nearly every session, her work was incomplete.

“Giani, you’ve not done a good job. You get a minus score for this,” DAV79 stated bluntly.
“This cannot be the quality of work coming out even after the training for 5 days.”

There was no public shaming, only accountability. When Giani explained her team had not joined yet, DAV79 cut to the principle behind the training:
“If they don’t come in, you still plan. You cannot be complacent. i need to see the re-work before 8 am singapore time tomorrow”

Giani acknowledged quietly, “Okay. Yes.”

Training mattered because it demanded action, not excuses. Giani was required to provide a full reflection explaining why she failed to deliver what was expected—especially after witnessing ELF001’s intensive training sessions earlier that morning. Without that reflection, the time and effort invested by everyone else would have been rendered meaningless.

This was not about fault-finding; it was about responsibility. Those who had received training—and those entrusted to lead—were expected to build momentum, not absorb it passively. Leadership meant translating learning into execution, immediately and visibly.

Anything less was not merely underperformance—it risked becoming a waste of collective time and energy. DAV79 was blunt in his expectations, but even more uncompromising with those he believed had real potential.

Around her, others absorbed the lesson. Ali asked practical questions about planning ahead. BLCOP was exempted due to exams—but only with the expectation of follow-up and evaluation. Luna, Kyla, and Tirta clarified their capacity honestly, and were guided on how to stay engaged responsibly.

“I need your parents’ support, Luna,” DAV79 said. “Please ask them to contact me as soon as possible—either via Slack, Telegram, or through Lin91.”

The session closed with a forward-facing challenge from DAV79:
“Are you truly an entrepreneur? What value can you stretch?”

The session opened with coordination and housekeeping. DAV79 led the setup by inviting participants, confirming attendance, and outlining expectations for the session. From the start, attention was placed on data accuracy, structure, and accountability, particularly in relation to templates, dashboards, and participant tracking.

I. DASHBOARDS

A significant portion of the training focused on proper spreadsheet use, including pivot tables, filters, confirmed versus unconfirmed participants, and the risks of making manual adjustments that introduce errors later.

The dashboard review was led by DAV79 with ELF managing the screen. DAV79 asked, “How many members are here?” and instructed ELF to review registrations and cohort assignments. As ELF navigated the participant table, DAV79 directed specific checks: “Filter confirmed only.” While reviewing the list, DAV79 flagged inconsistencies, asking, “Where is Raleen?” and “We should have ten confirmed, right?” When discrepancies appeared, DAV79 guided ELF to recheck the data using filters and pivot tables. Updates were made in real time to align registrations, cohorts, and confirmed members.

DAV79 emphasized process consistency, stating, “Ideally, you should not be doing this manually. This should be automatic.” The instruction reinforced the importance of relying on systems rather than manual fixes.

The group continued reviewing ambassador counts, confirmation ratios, and dashboard totals. When numbers did not align, DAV79 demonstrated how to diagnose the issue step by step rather than making assumptions. As he concluded the walkthrough, he stated, “You see? This is how you check the data,” reinforcing the method through live correction and verification.

Actions

Step 1: Members who have confirmed are required to submit the names of their members. This establishes clear participation records and supports commitment tracking.

Step 2: Members are required to submit their cohort names. This information enables MIHF to activate the energy meters and monitor engagement and performance indicators.

Atleast he following members are still missing their team selection: Wiati, Ratna, Intan, and Raline.
Jayden had already submitted the required information earlier, prior to ELF001 launching the form.

Step 3: Journal upload status was reviewed. Only ELF001 and JFP had uploaded their journals. JFP’s submission requires further development to meet the expected standard. ELF001 demonstrated initial effort and is expected to strengthen the journal by incorporating clearer strategic insights.

Step 4: Unconfirmed Members
Follow-up actions were assigned for members who had not yet confirmed. Mata Aksara will reach out to several unconfirmed members. For the Bali team, follow-ups will be conducted by Ms Santi and Mr Putu. Members still unconfirmed include Anguma, Ella, Jesika, Kayobi, Bimbim, and others. For the Vietnam team, DAV79 will follow up via Cloudy, while ELF001 will still attempt to contact Luna, Nhat Anh, Tina, and Chilli.

Step 5: New Members
Outreach to potential new members is being led by Halli’s mother and Mata Aksara. These new members will require guidance on running the bootcamp. Ambassadors were identified as the members best positioned to provide this support.

The ambassadors were still attempting to get more people.

Participants are reminded to read specific training sections, reflect meaningfully, and follow up with missing members.

II. JOURNAL

Aqila asked for clarification on what type of journal entries were required and what content needed to be included, particularly in relation to planning, execution, and reflection. Her questions centered on whether journals were meant to be descriptive records or whether they needed to explicitly connect activities and reflections to entrepreneurship concepts

She also sought confirmation on submission timing, asking questions to understand when entries needed to be completed and reviewed, especially in relation to session activities and follow-up tasks. This included clarification around whether journal work needed to be completed by the end of the session or could be updated afterward before review

DAV79 explained that the journal is divided into two sections:

Section 1: Planning
The cut-off date for the Planning section was 21 December. Members within the same cohort were expected to share the same planning content, unless they were working on independent activities.

Section 2: Execution (Actuals)
The Execution section was to be updated individually by each cohort member between 22–24 December. Entries were expected to include live updates such as stories, photos, observations, and personal perceptions.

The final segment focused on the journal and activity playbook. Participants reviewed journals to confirm completion and correct placement. The activity playbook was revisited with emphasis on consistent use of templates. Participants were instructed to follow the prescribed templates when creating journals, activities, and supporting materials.

Actions

ELF was assigned to develop templates for each section of the activity plan, with specific focus on the following:

5. “What’s in My Bag” – a recommended items list

6. Reading and Commenting List – chapters to be read and commented on; member comments would contribute to village scores

7. Energy Meter – ELF to coordinate with MIHF and Lin91 on the energy meter application; members without digital access or stable networks were to use notebooks as an alternative

8. Trail Map – a simple trail map, with ELF001 to demonstrate an example

9. Sticky Note Example – a sample from ELF’s plan to be shared

10. Activity Cost Table – a small table showing planned activity costs versus actual spending

The session concluded with a renewed focus on storytelling and mindset formation through templates. Make it creative - personal. Cohort leaders were instructed to ensure that stories reflected entrepreneurial values, including value creation, contextual awareness, and structured reflection.

During this discussion, Aqila raised a clarification question about how journal content should connect to entrepreneurship, asking:

“I’m confused… if we have to add a connection to entrepreneurship, what are the connections?”

In response, DAV79 emphasized the expected linkage between narrative and execution, stating:

“Do your cohort members understand the story? Can they link it to the entrepreneurial mindset? And once the activity is completed, can they link it back to the story in their Smurf village?”

He congratulated everyone on the work completed. DAV79 also reminded participants to ensure that the “How Do You Feel” section was filled in.

Good luck on the sessions - Templates were expected to be ready by Noon Singapore time. ELF001 said. - yeah!

From the outset, it was clear that reflection in this program was not a personal exercise. It was a collective responsibility, directly tied to execution quality and leadership credibility.

Registration – Cohorts – Members

The day began with confirmation of registration, cohort formation, and member alignment. These were treated not as administrative housekeeping, but as foundational leadership work. Cohorts were framed as intentional learning units—spaces designed to cultivate collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership.

As the session progressed, it became evident that incomplete updates and delayed registrations were generating unnecessary confusion. The instruction was firm and unambiguous: records must be updated in real time. Leadership, it was emphasized, is not about fixing things later; it is about creating clarity now. A system functions only when leaders know who is present, who is absent, and who requires support.

This moment reinforced a critical lesson: systems do not fail randomly. They fail when ownership is unclear. Registration was reframed as an act of accountability, not data entry.

Leadership Roles and Structure

Leadership roles were clearly articulated to establish direction and stability. ELF001 served as the Base Camp Commander, responsible for structure, discipline, and flow. Ambassador leadership was carried by Giani, Sakha, Intan, Wiati, and Ratna, each expected to model responsibility within their cohorts.

Supporting the ambassadors were committed volunteers—Quila from Jogja, and Vika, Putri, and Stira from Bali. The Bali team joined at the last minute through the efforts of Mr. Putu. Their late onboarding did not weaken the program; instead, it highlighted adaptability, coordination, and the strength of collective support under pressure.

Actions – Scores

Reflection deepened as the group examined how Day 1 actions translated into either clarity or confusion. ELF001 spoke candidly, describing the previous session as “messy” and “confusing,” citing language barriers and unclear expectations.

This observation prompted a critical reframing. Confusion, it was clarified, is not a label—it is a signal. Leaders were required to distinguish between:

• confusion caused by insufficient explanation, and

• gaps caused by capability or readiness.

Treating both as the same problem only compounds inefficiency.

The response was not blame, but strategy. Leaders were instructed to repeat explanations, reduce abstraction, appoint deputies, and deliberately distribute leadership rather than centralize it. Scores and feedback were reframed as diagnostic tools, not judgments—mechanisms to reveal where leadership needed to adapt and intervene.

At this point, the correction became explicit. Waiting to “clean things up later” was firmly rejected. In a live program with daily sessions, systems must reflect reality as it happens. Delayed updates waste collective energy and quietly erode trust. The message was unmistakable: administration is not secondary work—it is leadership work.

ELF001 was reminded that such tasks must never be handled during live meetings. Preparation happens before execution, execution happens during the session, and reflection happens after. Blurring these boundaries is not a logistical mistake—it is a leadership failure.

What Are We Doing from D1 – D4

A recurring theme throughout the discussions was uncertainty about the overall program arc. This led to a clear articulation of the four-day structure:

• Day 1: Orientation and exposure

• Day 2: Reflection and clarification

• Day 3: Activation and application

• Day 4: Integration and presentation

Participants acknowledged that prior to this clarification, the connections between days were not fully understood. This realization itself became instructive: if ambassadors lack clarity, their cohorts will lack it even more. Leaders were instructed to explicitly verify understanding within their groups and act immediately when clarity was missing.

Reflection, therefore, was reframed as structural alignment, not emotional processing.

Journal – Activity Playbook

Journaling emerged as a critical anchor of the program and was explicitly defined as non-negotiable infrastructure. Journals served two essential functions:

1. Attendance verification

2. Cognitive capture—ensuring learning was documented before it dissipated

Questions arose about whether reflections could be reused from other platforms. The clarification was precise. While emotional content may overlap, each platform serves a distinct operational purpose. Journals are not essays; they are concise, time-bound records of presence, engagement, and immediate insight. Longer commentary belongs elsewhere. The journal exists to anchor accountability in real time.

Alongside journaling, the Activity Playbook was positioned as the program’s translation layer. It mapped daily actions, responsibilities, and expectations so that reflection could convert into execution. Together, the journal and playbook formed a closed operational loop:

think → record → act → review

When either element failed, the loop collapsed.

It was at this point that DAV79 reviewed the journal and activity plan ELF001 had repeatedly been instructed to build. One look was sufficient.

What followed was a direct, formal, and final intervention.

DAV79 stated unequivocally that ELF001’s work was “lousy” and “absolutely rubbish.” He tied the quality of the entire program directly to her execution as Bootcamp Commander:

“When you are the bootcamp leader, you are doing a lousy work, everybody will be doing a lousy work.”

The expectations were no longer implied—they were imposed. The three-day activity plan was required to be completed that same day, with the deadline made explicit:

• by the afternoon,

• before the evening session,

• and verified live during that session.

DAV79 made it clear that he was not satisfied and that this pattern would not continue. He explicitly stated—multiple times and without ambiguity—that failure to correct this behavior would result in immediate removal from the commander role:

• “Otherwise you will be stripped of your command.”

• “I will find somebody else for this, and I’ll be giving them the job.”

• “This is your last warning. I’ve already warned you many times.”

• “Do not ever repeat this. If you repeat this, you will be stripped of your command.”

Authority and comprehension were formally confirmed. DAV79 demanded acknowledgment twice—ensuring there was no room for misinterpretation.

Immediately following the warning, execution accountability was reinforced. ELF001 was instructed that she must personally ensure every participant completes the “how do you feel” journal after each session. If entries were missing, she was required to:

• remind participants directly, and

• escalate non-compliance without delay to DAV79, Qilla, the Bali team volunteers, or Mr. Putu.

This moment marked a decisive shift. Journaling was no longer framed as a learning aid. It was affirmed as leadership infrastructure. Failure to maintain it was no longer an oversight—it was grounds for removal.

Other To-Do

As the session progressed, additional responsibilities surfaced:

• remember to complete the “HOW DO YOU FEEL”

• identifying deputies within cohorts - its good to look out for potential members

• aligning Bali and Jogja teams despite late onboarding, and

• positioning volunteers as coaches, facilitators, and documenters.

The Bali team’s last-minute inclusion—made possible through Mr. Putu’s coordination—became a live case study in adaptability. Rather than slowing the program, it expanded its scope. Volunteers were positioned not as helpers, but as multipliers—bridging gaps, capturing insight, and strengthening the ecosystem.

9:30 had already slipped by, and the call wasn’t warming up—it was on.

People talked over each other. Not chaos. Momentum. The kind where ideas don’t wait their turn. Somewhere between Singapore and Indonesia, urgency leaked through the speakers.

DAV79 leaned in. You could hear it in his voice.

“Small cohorts weren’t cutting it. One person. Two people. That wasn’t learning; that was limping. He laid it out plainly: merge them. Stack them. Build something that could move on its own. Bigger groups. Faster learning. Fewer people floating off unnoticed.” So that where Mata Aksara can definitely help.

Z was already juggling tabs, half in the call, half somewhere else entirely. Times flew around—one o’clock, two o’clock, flexible, after this meeting, before the next. Borders blurred. Decisions didn’t.

Then the word slipped out.

“Ambassadors….errr”

“No—volunteers,” DAV79 corrected himself immediately. It mattered. This wasn’t a title game. This was work. Training was happening. Today. Soon. Dates snapped into place. December 17. Two to five, Singapore time. Vagueness didn’t survive the room.

Then the snag.

Aquila thought she was supposed to lead a cohort.

“No,” DAV79 said, not harsh, not soft. Just precise. “You manage them. You don’t own one.”

Something clicked. You could feel it. Aquila’s role shifted—from being in the system to holding it together. Z typed fast, already fixing the miswire before it spread.

ELF001 cut in.

“I’m sending it to everyone.”

That kicked off a whole new problem: words.

Not just what to say, but how it felt. Anything stiff got shot down. Anything that smelled like AI didn’t stand a chance.

“Boring,” DAV79 said, flatly. No debate.

They tried again. And again.

Then it landed.

“It’s time to smurf up and begin Day Zero.”

That did it.

Laughter cracked through the call. Energy spiked. Even Aquila—just back, hair still damp, brain half-asleep—caught it instantly.

From there, it moved fast.

Three challenges that ELF001 had to set in motion. No fluff.

• for the 8 ambassadors who had already signed in - Pick your village. ELF001 had to launch a google sheet for them to select.

• Read the articles. Actually read them and comment on every single one of them.

• Design the journal. Upload it. No journal, no signal. This was the activity plan. ELF001 had to prepare her versions as well.

The deadlines were tight. Three days. No wiggle room.
Ms. Z flagged it straight—this was critical—and DAV79 backed it up, confirming that ELF001 would push out daily notes. Just enough time to show intent. Not enough time to disappear. Without journals, the whole thing would go feral—“wild, wild west,” DAV79 said, then smirked, “in the East.”

Roles snapped back into place. Volunteer support would be tightened and clarified, with Aquila helping to coordinate the flow. ELF001 leads and executes. Z keeps the system moving. Aquila tracks, reports, balances, and documents. No overlap. No confusion. Everyone knows their lane.

By the end, the QBOARD was lighting up. Links dropped fast. Threads connected. Loose ends were either tied—or clearly marked for follow-up.

Before dropping off, DAV79 added one last thing.

“Read it yourself first,” he told ELF001. “Don’t outsource what you haven’t done - and please follow up with others.”

“Yes I get it!” the bootcamp commander sounded out - after a slight sneeze. “Bless you - please dont forget the how do you feel - this is your training attendance reflection and attendance too - ask Giani to fill in for yesterday too and members who attended in your evening call” said DAV79 and the call ended - waiting for the evening session where the training would be repeated briefly by the BC.

Chapter 2 : The Other Volunteers

“I’m still confused,” Zky admitted quietly. “I don’t really know what I should do.”

“That’s normal,” DAV79 responded. “The first mistake everyone makes is asking what to do. We must start with why.”

Beside him, Z, the mentor, reinforced the pause. “If we don’t understand the purpose, the tasks will feel heavy,” she said, switching between languages to make sure no one was left behind.

“No,” DAV79 said firmly. “This is about mindset. Schools teach skills well, but they rarely teach how to think, how to respond to conflict, or how to see beyond yourself.”

“That’s exactly why we’re here,” DAV79 replied. “Without why, we become machines.”

The conversation widened. It was no longer about one child or one cohort. Sustainability, leadership, discovery—each was framed as awareness of an ecosystem, not isolated achievement.

“This isn’t about you alone,” Z concluded. “It’s about how you exist within others.”

“Mindset comes first,” DAV79 said, returning again to the why. “Without it, skills are just borrowed tools.” To make the point tangible, he did a short role play with Aquila, asking her to respond not as a student, but as a decision-maker. The exercise was simple, but the message was clear: mindset shapes reaction before action.

“So how does this apply in real life?” someone asked.

“That’s where the how comes in,” DAV79 replied. “You apply it as a Global Citizen. You observe your environment, understand people, and act with awareness—not instructions.”

Only then did he outline the what: the programs themselves. The hybrid bootcamp, the journals, the villages, the discussions—structures designed to surface thinking, not replace it.

Finally, he addressed the for what.

“If this bootcamp is going to help others,” he said, “there are responsibilities.”

The tasks were clear. First, participants must support the Ambassador Leaders, not wait to be told what to do. Second, they must report three positive and three limiting mindsets they encounter. Third, they must document the journey—through reflections, testimonials, and honest self-review. And finally, they must prepare a five-minute presentation, sharing their learning with the world on the last day.

“This isn’t about completion,” DAV79 concluded. “It’s about contribution.”

Chapter 3 : The Mentor

The call came together in fragments— microphones crackling, accents colliding across time zones.

“Can you hear me?” Ashokh asked. His voice was calm, unmistakably Singaporean, precise but warm.

“Yes,” LIN91 replied. “We can hear you.”

Ashokh smiled. “Give me the highlights first. What are you trying to achieve?”

DAV79 didn’t sugarcoat it. “We tested the program. The concept holds. The delivery didn’t—at least not in the first half.”

LIN91 added, “The mindset work is solid. The engagement model needs maturity.”

Ashokh listened, occasionally jotting notes. “So what are you measuring?”

“Acceptance,” DAV79 said. “Who comes back. Who recommends. Who stays.”

“Fair,” Ashokh replied. “But be clear about your end before the next run.”

When Bali came up, DAV79 paused. “The students cried on day one.”

LIN91 smiled softly. “And returned stronger on day two.”

Ashokh leaned in. “That’s exactly why you can’t look at a single child, or even a single cohort. Look at the ecosystem. Parents. Schools. Culture. Pressure. Belief systems.Different ecosystems produce different responses. Don’t force one shape everywhere. ”

Near the end, Ashokh tilted his head. “By the way, yesterday—you were a little upset.”

DAV79 exhaled. “You noticed.”

“I was listening in to a few online conversations,” Ashokh said. “Something didn’t sit right.”

“It was Project ∞” DAV79 admitted. “We had CEOs and business leaders waiting. Our own ambassadors were late. Some asked to reschedule—last minute.”

“That’s tough,” Ashokh said gently.

“It wasn’t anger,” DAV79 continued. “It was disappointment. If we teach responsibility, we have to live it.”

Ashokh nodded. “That moment—that’s part of the curriculum too.”

In a program built on values, punctuality and accountability are not logistics—they are signals of integrity. What made the moment heavier was the realization that these discussions were being observed at the highest levels. The work was no longer private; it represented something larger.

As the call wound down, students waited silently in the background—Bali, Jogja, Singapore—watching, learning without being taught.

“Okay,” DAV79 said finally. “Breakout rooms soon.”

And the work went on—unfinished, imperfect, but very much alive.

Chapter 4 : The Other Ambassadors - Finding Potential Bootcamp leaders for the next season

As the session transitioned to ELF001, the focus shifted decisively from reflection to execution. What followed was not a smooth presentation, but a real learning environment—messy, human, and honest. Participants navigated confusion, language barriers, unstable connections, and moments of silence while trying to understand the structure of a hybrid bootcamp. Four days. Global teams. Journals. Villages inspired by Smurf characters. Missions, discussions, and shared accountability.

Questions were asked, repeated, misunderstood, and asked again. Some answers arrived late. Others emerged through peer support rather than instruction. At times, participants forgot what had just been explained; at other times, they surprised themselves by explaining it to others. Persistence quietly replaced hesitation. Learning did not come from perfect clarity, but from staying engaged despite uncertainty.

What unfolded was more than logistical training. It was a lesson in how real collaboration works across cultures and confidence levels. People learned not only what to do, but how to stay present—to ask when confused, to listen patiently, and to support one another without embarrassment. That how the team was watching who would be ready to be the bootcamp commander for the next season. The training would be critical as they needed to build more members into the ecosystem.

The true essay of the day was not written in journals or Padlet posts. It was written in practice: in showing up, in trying again, in respecting time, and in understanding that growth does not happen in isolation. It happens within an ecosystem—where individuals learn to move, think, and improve together. and this is a test - for the next season bootcamp commanders.

Chapter 5 : The Partners - Mata Aksara and the Bali Team

The bootcamp itself was framed as flexible and inclusive. Dates were discussed openly, acknowledging that some cohorts might run parts of the program earlier while remaining connected through daily online sessions. Emphasis was placed on commitment, communication, and understanding barriers to participation rather than enforcing attendance. Reporting was discussed at length—not as certification, but as reflective documentation capturing engagement, mindset shifts, and learning. The report was positioned as a mirror, not a reward.

There was also careful discussion around expectations. DAV79 stressed that the program should not promise scholarships or outcomes beyond its scope. DAV79 encouraged the volunteers who were around 17 years old , should they need further support to join Project ∞.

Some parents were missing from the conversation, many of them traveling, and DAV79 felt the need to clarify the intent once more. The bootcamp was DIY in spirit—designed around small cohorts, real-world challenges, and mindset development, with trust and flexibility prioritized over rigid control. However, it became apparent that this structure may not have been fully understood.

Participation was never limited by location or travel. As long as an ambassador was present to support the cohort, engagement remained possible. Recognizing this gap in understanding, DAV79 suggested a simple next step: a short call with the parents after Story Night.

A brief conversation could quickly bring everyone onto the same page—clarifying expectations, addressing concerns, and reinforcing that the program was built to adapt to real lives, not disrupt them - even while they were on holidays.

For ambassadors with smaller groups, Mata Aksara’s outreach program could play a supporting role—bringing in additional participants or even clustering multiple cohorts who might prefer to gather physically in Yogyakarta. The intent was never to standardize the experience, but to create options that fit different realities.

It was also important to ensure that parents of Nabila, Jihan, Kal, Deras, Aimmee, Keysha and several others were reached out to, so concerns could be understood directly rather than assumed. Participation could not and would not be forced. Instead, the goal was to listen, encourage where appropriate, and adjust thoughtfully where possible.
One of the parents were also attempting to reach out to the friends in other cities like Jakarta.

The bootcamp was designed to be inclusive, adaptable, and grounded in trust—meeting participants where they were, not where a fixed system expected them to be.

Chapter 6 : The Guardians of the Ambassadors.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Indonesia, a message arrived from one of the guardians of the Ambassadors—not urgent, but thoughtful.

“Halo D. How are you doing?” the message began. “I’d like to ask a bit about the hybrid bootcamp.”

The questions were careful and practical. When exactly would the bootcamp take place? What programs would be included? Could the information be shared with other parents in Jakarta whose children might want to join? There was curiosity, but also responsibility—an adult wanting clarity before extending trust.

“Do you have a program overview? Maybe a PDF?” the guardian asked, thinking ahead.

Hours later, DAV79 replied apologetically. “I just got access to the coms. Most of our documents are on the cloud and Substack,” he explained. “I’ll send communication notes instead.”

When the notes arrived, they came with context. Participation depended on existing Ambassadors. New participants would need guidance, possibly forming a satellite cohort under someone already involved.

“Thanks a bunch, sir,” came the reply—followed by more questions. “So the confirmed dates are December 22–24, right? And what time does it start and end?”

Then, a pause. And a final message, warm and human.

“If you don’t mind, could we have a call tomorrow? You can choose the time.”

This was exactly what DAV79 had been waiting for—a genuine opening for dialogue. Not just a request for information, but an invitation to listen together. He hoped that other parents would join the call as well, not to be convinced, but to understand.

There was quiet but powerful potential in the guardians of the Ambassadors. Their questions showed care, foresight, and a willingness to engage beyond logistics. Beneath the practical concerns about dates and schedules lay something deeper: openness to mindset, growth, and shared responsibility.

For DAV79, this was where real alignment could begin—not with slides or documents, but with conversations that respected both curiosity and concern.

Finally, the cohorts in the Middle East, India, and Vietnam were still missing from the conversation. DAV79 knew he would need to reach out once again, patiently explaining the structure and intent of the bootcamp to ensure no one was left behind.

In Vietnam, this meant reconnecting with a trusted partner, LSE, to help bridge understanding and communication on the ground. Experience had taught him that participation often arrives at the last minute. That pattern was familiar—and human.

People hesitate. They wait. They watch from the platform until the train is nearly gone.

And more often than not, also with some LUCK they still manage to board. We remain optimistic.

The focus for the day was the registration flow and overall onboarding process. To do this effectively, we needed clear visibility on who would be attending, which led us to design and refine the registration process accordingly.

This approach helps us understand who is attending while fostering a sense of ownership and commitment. Rather than using a traditional registration process, we are intentionally experimenting with a more personal model—one where “kampong-style” proximity and relationship matter more than formality.

One remaining question relates to Jogja, where we are partnering with Mata Aksara, who will be bringing in several cohorts together. The question is: which cohort would prefer to participate under Mata Aksara?

If an Ambassador chooses to join multiple cohorts—perhaps because learning alongside more people feels richer and offers broader perspectives—they can simply inform Mata Aksara and align with the relevant day’s plan. We will be updating the schedule with Mata Aksara once the exact locations are confirmed for participants in Jogja who wish to join.

This collaboration becomes particularly valuable when a kampong does not yet have enough members to offer Ambassadors full exposure to the training. In such cases, Mata Aksara can help by bringing cohorts together and, where appropriate, inviting additional participants from the local schools they are already connected with. When this happens, Mata Aksara—through its volunteers—will provide the names of those joining the cohort.

To support this effort, Mata Aksara will also recruit volunteers. We’ve already had the pleasure of speaking with one especially curious potential volunteer—Aquila (likely not her real name, but her curiosity certainly was). That genuine curiosity is exactly the kind of energy that makes this collaboration work.

A training plan for the Volunteers via a Zoom is being organised for Dec 17 via TEAM FD facilitators , between 2 pm and 5 pm Singapore time.

In short: more proximity, more people, more perspectives—and a stronger learning experience for everyone.

B. OUTREACH - EXISTING AMBASSADORS and NEW PARTICIPANTS

We also asked Mata Aksara and the Guardians of the Global Citizens (the parents’ community) to follow up with members who had not yet registered. We noted that the Pakem 4 group was still missing, with Ms. Sanie identified as the point of contact there.

During the call, Aquila asked—carefully—whether these members were inactive. The answer was no; they were simply unconfirmed in their participation. They remain active on Zoom and continue to attend sessions, and just need a day or two to catch up and complete the process.

For participants in other cities, Bootcamp Commander [BC] ELF001 will take responsibility for coordination, working closely with the relevant local partners.

For New Participants Atleast in Jogja - Our Partner Mata Aksara was busy visiting schools to share the global citizen bootcamp concepts.

C. ACTIVITY PLAN

The objective was to understand how much value we could generate. Today, value is often confused with money—and that confusion is understandable. We all need money to survive; even a six-year-old knows that.

As ELF001 pointed out, in Singapore children are formally introduced to money as early as age six. They learn to recognize notes and coins, distinguish between them, and practice basic addition and subtraction. Not so long ago, those same lessons were taught using oranges and apples. The math remained the same—only the symbols changed.

The real question, then, is not whether money matters, but whether value can be measured only in currency. This is precisely the mindset we wanted to cultivate in our young Ambassadors: to become true entrepreneurs of value—creating impact that goes beyond money alone.

The training began with planning and clear communication. We agreed to run two parallel training tracks: one scheduled at 8:00 a.m. Singapore time, and a second led by the Bootcamp Commanders (BCs). At the time, one of the BCs was still tied up and had yet to fully join the training sessions.

Toward the end of the day, facilitator DAV79 spoke with WYBIE from Vietnam, the outgoing Bootcamp Commander (BC) for 2024 and early 2025. WYBIE was invited to continue supporting the program by reviewing materials and offering insights to the new BCs, ensuring continuity and shared learning.

The Challenge We’re Addressing

For the last several years we observed patterns in both developed and developing worlds. This became the the wake-up call that moved us from concern to action. The growing emptiness after *PSLE ( Primary School Leaving Examinations) , the rise of bullying, weakened articulation, entitlement without accountability, lower empathy, heightened fear, panic around conflict, and increasing social withdrawal signaled a deeper systemic gap. Reduced awareness and narrow vested interests left many youths disconnected from meaning, responsibility, and self-understanding. This was not a youth problem—it was an environment problem.

That realization triggered the creation of the Learning Space: a place to rebuild voice, values, empathy, and courage. From this foundation, the Global Citizen Track emerged, guiding young people beyond self-focus toward responsibility, contribution, and purposeful engagement with the world.

Educational institutions worldwide have developed robust 21st-century competency frameworks that define the knowledge, values, and skills students need to succeed. But there’s a critical gap: these competencies are often taught in theory but not internalized through lived experience. Students learn about resilience, adaptability, and global citizenship in the classroom—but rarely practice them in real-world contexts where these traits actually matter.

Our Initiative: Making Competencies Embodied & Measured in Action

The GLOBAL CITIZENS Program serves as the reinforcement and execution arm for 21st-century education. We don’t replace existing frameworks—we bring them to life. Through structured, experiential learning, we transform abstract concepts like “leadership,” “sustainability,” and “innovation” into mindsets that students develop through challenges, peer engagement, and reflection-based learning.

Who We Serve

Students ages 8-18, across diverse educational contexts—from Indonesia’s National Curriculum to Cambridge International, from School Bali’s experiential model to India’s NEP framework, and beyond. Our program integrates seamlessly into existing school curricula as a complementary character-building pathway.

The program operates through quarterly focus areas that develop distinct but interconnected competencies:

• Leadership Development (Jan-Mar): Cultivating servant leadership, resilience, and purpose-driven thinking through mindsets like Servant Leader, Dream Builder, and Change Rider

Our 2025 Journey: Milestones That Mattered

Daily Discovery Bootcamp – Vietnam (June 27-29)

Our first international bootcamp launched in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, bringing together young ambassadors in a 3-day immersive experience focused on critical thinking through observation, reflection, questioning, and storytelling. Students explored the Watchful Spirit, Insight Miner, and Storytelling mindsets while creating tangible products from recycled materials—products they sold at a mini-exhibition where parents and community members became real customers.

The breakthrough: We proved that even 7-8 year olds could lead their peers when given structure, trust, and space to grow. Young Ambassador Chin taught us something profound when he rejected a replacement paracord, wanting only the one he made himself—showing that children value the pride of their own effort over the object itself.

Sustainability Bootcamp – Bali (October 13-15)

At SMPN 7 Singaraja, 13 young ambassadors led 200+ participants through an exploration of sustainability as lived practice, not theory. Students visited local businesses—from traditional gamelan makers to palm sugar producers—interviewed owners, identified challenges, and proposed solutions in bilingual presentations (Balinese and English).

The transformation: A teacher who was skeptical days before the bootcamp stood in the school temple and prayed for our success. That moment—when resistance became partnership—signaled we’d moved from being outsiders to family. The three-day experience culminated in the “Bubble Gateway Village” expo, where students took on roles from registration (SpongeBobs) to banking (Pearls) to photography (Karens), running an entire mini-economy.

The impact reached beyond students: teachers held a forum envisioning how to turn the school into a sustainable community hub, proposing businesses that could generate IDR 500 million annually while serving as living classrooms.

Sustainability Bootcamp – Yogyakarta (October 24-26)

Twenty-eight young ambassadors from 13 different schools in Yogyakarta led 74 participants through business discovery missions at innovative local enterprises—from businesses turning plastic waste into kitchen products to traditional craft makers. Despite three consecutive days of rain (evening, afternoon, then morning downpours), every single student showed up early, energized and ready.

The revelation: Parents acting as “sensors” discovered that children’s apparent weaknesses were often misunderstood strengths. The “hyperactive” child became the star drama performer. The “silent” girl communicated brilliantly through drawings. The “shy” student asked the most sophisticated analytical questions when given space. We learned that when we stopped forcing kids into our frameworks and started observing how they naturally operate, their capabilities genuinely surprised us.

One parent perfectly captured the shift: “This isn’t just learning—it’s like the best field trip ever, except they come back different.”

Building the Indonesia Chapter: From Vision to Movement

What started as conversations became a thriving ecosystem. We established partnerships with Mata Aksara (Yogyakarta), SMPN 7 Singaraja (Bali), SMPN 4 Pakem (Yogyakarta), and SDN Adisucipto 2 (Yogyakarta). Our founding team includes dedicated educators, parents, and youth advocates who are now adapting the GLOBAL CITIZENS framework to Indonesian contexts—honoring local wisdom while building global competencies.

The Indonesia chapter demonstrated something powerful: schools that initially had no relationship with us opened their doors, teachers who were skeptical became solid partners, and parents who dropped off uncertain children picked up confident young leaders.

Growing a Global Network: Beyond Borders

From Vietnam to Indonesia to Singapore to India, educators and thought leaders reached out organically wanting to bring GLOBAL CITIZENS to their communities. Our weekly Saturday Zoom sessions (every Saturday at 20:30 SGT) now connect young minds across countries, creating a living laboratory for cross-cultural collaboration and global citizenship in action.

December’s Hybrid Entrepreneur Bootcamp will unite ambassadors from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Oman, and China—each leading their own local cohort while connecting globally. This isn’t just program expansion; it’s proof that young people are hungry for education that transcends borders and textbooks.

Proving What Parents Always Knew (But Schools Often struggle with)

Through intensive engagement with participating families across three countries, we gathered evidence that validates what parents intuitively understand: children thrive when we nurture their whole selves. Parents reported seeing their children develop confidence in leading peers, resilience when facing challenges (yes, there were tears—and then there was growth), creative problem-solving abilities, and genuine care for community and environmental issues.

One father in Bali captured it perfectly: “My daughter cried one night, exhausted and overwhelmed. But I told her—don’t give up, this will help you grow. And it did.”

The data speaks clearly: holistic development isn’t optional or “extra.” It’s essential. Children don’t just need knowledge; they need experiences that build character, competencies, and the courage to lead.

We began noticing subtle micro-behaviours that revealed deeper shifts. In one Zoom session, a student changed her display name to that of the group leader. Was it innocent mischief—or an early experiment with power, identity, and control? Today’s children are becoming sharper, more strategic, more political. At times, this intelligence turns cunning, even manipulative, in the pursuit of advantage. The real challenge is not to punish these behaviours, but to guide them. How do we help young people understand that such shortcuts ultimately erode trust and harm them? How do we teach that a healthy ecosystem—social or global—is earned through contribution and integrity, not captured through dominance or deception?

[OBSERVATION 2 - What’s working? What’s surprising?] eg:

A parent once shared that their child had become unusually fixated on details rather than purpose. We noticed how collective dynamics amplify this shift—the power of the group, even minus one, accelerates behaviours and norms. When left unchecked, momentum builds quickly, shaping decisions before reflection has a chance to catch up.

[OBSERVATION 3 - What challenges or gaps are emerging?] eg:

A parent recently observed - Mr Putu from Bali also confirmed this : the case of the 3 M. Helping parents understand that money cannot buy time, growth, or mindset. A mindset shift is not a switch—it requires consistency, reinforcement, integration and a structured journey. Many newly affluent parents look for quick, purchasable solutions. But money often creates the illusion of progress without real change. If we are not clear about this, we risk becoming transactional rather than transformational - we will be nothing but a scam , according to the words of a researcher. Our responsibility is to communicate, honestly and firmly, that what we offer cannot be bought off the shelf—it must be lived, practiced, and earned over time - again and again.

Students crave excitement - newness and yet are scared to touch it. In the near future according to our researchers - we will have lots of free time on our hands. We are going to get bored - no on i s going to motivate us. We are going to push ourselves. Students do not need faster solutions or more resources; they need time, structure, and guided repetition to form values and mindset. Growth cannot be outsourced or purchased. What they need is a consistent environment that reinforces reflection, accountability, and meaning—one that allows mindset to mature through experience, not shortcuts.

[CONNECTING INSIGHT - Why does this matter for the future of education?] Eg :

The future of education may be less about content delivery and more about helping individuals learn to manage fear through structured information and clear cause-and-effect understanding. Education should no longer function as a showhouse designed to prove performance, but as a laboratory where mindset can be tested safely. Rather than rewarding polished outcomes alone, learning spaces must encourage experimentation, failure, reflection, and recalibration. In a true laboratory, mistakes become data—not shame. This shift matters because the future will demand individuals who can question assumptions, regulate fear, and adapt in real time. When students are given safe conditions to explore consequences, they develop resilience, accountability, and self-awareness. Mindset matures through testing, not performing.

A Call to Action: Join the Curriculum Upgrade Movement in 2026

Why This Can’t Wait

Mindset formation is a lifelong journey—but it doesn’t start later. It starts now. Every day we delay is a day we’re sending children into a future we cannot predict with tools designed for a world that no longer exists.

We don’t know what challenges await them in 2030, 2040, or 2050. We don’t know which jobs will exist or which crises they’ll need to navigate. But we do know this: the mindsets they develop today—resilience, adaptability, critical thinking, global awareness—will be their compass when everything else is uncertain.

The urgency isn’t about adding more to already-packed schedules. It’s about recognizing that we’re in a race between their development and the accelerating complexity of the world they’ll inherit. We can’t afford to wait until they’re “older” or “ready.” The journey must begin now, because the future won’t wait for us to figure it out.

What We’re Learning: The Three-Legged Stool That’s Wobbling

After a year of intensive work across three countries, conducting bootcamps, running weekly sessions, and observing hundreds of young minds in action, we’ve identified a pattern in how 21st-century curricula are currently being delivered. Picture a three-legged stool: Concept, Content, and Delivery. When all three legs are strong, transformative learning happens. But right now? We’re seeing imbalance.

1. The Concept: Strong Foundation, Untapped Potential

The frameworks exist. Schools worldwide have adopted competency-based learning models emphasizing critical thinking, collaboration, global citizenship, and resilience. These concepts are solid—backed by research, aligned with future workforce needs, and philosophically sound.

But here’s what we’re noticing: these frameworks often remain at surface level. We teach about resilience without creating conditions where students must actually be resilient. We discuss collaboration without putting students in situations where collaboration is the only path forward. The concepts are there, but we haven’t yet reached their depth and transformative potential.

2. The Content: First-Layer Thinking in a Deep-Problem World

Students are being prepared—but they’re swimming in the shallow end. The content exists, but it often stays at the first layer of thought: definitions, examples, basic applications. What’s missing is the challenge that pushes students into deeper waters.

We’ve observed that when content doesn’t connect—when each lesson is a standalone island rather than part of an archipelago—students struggle to build the integrated thinking our complex world demands. Session quality fades because there’s no throughline, no building upon previous understanding, no cumulative depth.

Students need content that:

• Connects across domains (How does sustainability thinking apply to leadership? How does critical thinking inform entrepreneurship?)

• Builds progressively rather than resets each session

• Challenges them to go beyond memorization into application, analysis, and creation

• Feels relevant to their lived experience and future aspirations

3. The Delivery: The Weakest Link

This is where we see the most significant gap. Even when concepts are strong and content is well-designed, delivery can undermine everything.

What we’ve witnessed in our own program and observed in others:

• Inconsistent quality when facilitators rotate without proper training or accountability

• Lack of real-time adaptation when participant energy drops or engagement wanes

• No ownership of the learning experience—facilitators treating sessions as “get through the material” rather than “transform the learner”

• Failure to read the room—continuing with planned content even when students clearly need a different approach

The delivery challenge isn’t about having perfect teachers. It’s about building systems where quality is maintained, facilitators are empowered to adapt, and student engagement drives the session flow rather than a rigid lesson plan.

The Vision: A Future-Ready Mindset Portfolio for every Student

Imagine if every student graduated not just with transcripts and test scores, but with a Mindset Portfolio—a living document that demonstrates their actual competencies, growth trajectories, and readiness for the world ahead.

This portfolio would serve them in:

• University applications (showing not just what they know, but how they think and grow)

• Scholarship opportunities (demonstrating character, resilience, and leadership in action)

• Internship selections (proving they can adapt, collaborate, and solve real problems)

• Early employment (evidencing the soft skills and mindsets employers desperately seek)

The Mindset Portfolio would map three critical dimensions:

1. Where They Are Today Based on demonstrated performance across real challenges—not self-assessment surveys, but evidence from how they led peers, solved problems, adapted to setbacks, and contributed to communities.

2. Where They (students/ parents) Want to Go Their aspirations and goals—and critically, what mindsets they’ll need to develop to get there. If a student wants to become a social entrepreneur, what gap exists between their current resilience level and what that path demands?

3. What the Future Demands Market realities and emerging trends—helping students understand what mindsets will help them not just survive, but thrive and lead in their chosen fields.

The portfolio shows the fit (where students are already strong), the gaps (where development is needed), and crafts a personalized mindset formation pathway forward.

This is ambitious. We know it. But with hands joined across all stakeholder groups—students who own their growth, parents who support experiential learning, educators who facilitate transformation, schools that create space for innovation, and organizations that provide real-world contexts—we believe it’s achievable.

Here’s what 2025 taught us, over and over again, in Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, and beyond:

The children are already ready.

Ready to lead when we trust them with real responsibility. Ready to think deeply when we ask questions that matter. Ready to collaborate across cultures when we create the spaces for connection. Ready to solve real problems when we stop giving them fake ones. Ready to grow when we stop protecting them from every discomfort.

The curriculum upgrade we’re calling for isn’t about adding more content to already-overloaded schedules. It’s about going deeper with what we already have. It’s about connecting the islands into continents. It’s about delivering with intention and adapting with wisdom.

December 9, 8:15 AM (VNT / Jogja Time) marks your moment to step fully into the role of a CEO. This is your time to think strategically, speak with purpose, and evaluate ideas with the insight of a real leader.

As the TLS ambassador , you’ll be listening to the innovative business concepts created by your fellow ∞ Ambassadors as they complete Project Infinity’s 2025 cycle. Each team has identified a real-world problem, studied it closely, and designed a meaningful solution. Now, they’re ready to present—and you’re here to help shape their impact.

Prepare to question, explore, and guide. CEOs don’t just review ideas—they elevate them.

Your mission is simple: ask powerful questions that help the presenters sharpen their ideas, understand their impact, and think bigger.

Below are helpful CEO-style questions you can use. You don’t need to ask all of them—just pick the ones that feel right for the idea you’re evaluating. The actual company and industry you’ll be representing will be revealed Tuesday morning, but these questions work for ANY business.

1. Understanding the Problem

Great CEOs start by understanding why an idea exists.

• What problem did you notice, and why is it important to solve?

• Who experiences this problem the most?

• How did you discover this issue—did you talk to real people or observe it yourself?

• What happens if this problem stays unsolved?

2. Understanding the Solution

Once the problem is clear, CEOs dig into how the solution actually works.

• How does your solution solve the problem?

• What makes your idea different from other solutions?

• Why do you believe this approach will work?

• What part of your idea do you think is the strongest?

3. Customer and User Insight

A CEO must know who the idea is helping.

Bold ideas are great—but they must also be possible.

Even young CEOs think about both profit and purpose.

🔥 When JFP Took Over: Review November with theme: Market Sensors

Just when everyone thought the session couldn’t get more exciting, JFP swooped in like the calm, collected team captain who knows exactly how to rally the troops. If the session were a movie, this is where the soundtrack would switch to something epic with drums. 🥁⚡

JFP announced: “For today, we’re doing a month revision!”

The Four Magical Topics of the Month

JFP listed the four big skills everyone had been training like tiny Avengers:

Connecting the Dots: Becoming Market Sensors!

Then JFP dropped the big reveal:

“These four steps help you become market sensors!”

Each one sounded like a spell from a wizarding textbook, and JFP guided the group through them one by one.

He explained the whole journey like a quest:

1️⃣ Decoupling: Pick 1 problem from your observation
2️⃣ Idea Validation: Ask others if it’s good
3️⃣ Idea Execution: Execute the idea
4️⃣ Feedback Treatment: Handle feedback like a pro Jedi

If you can do all that, you’re ready to be a Market Sensor - and embody a big mindset of a global citizen.

🪄 And Then… The Breakout Room QUEST Begins!

Once JFP confirmed most kids understood (or at least nodded convincingly), he activated the adventure mode:

“We will use these four steps in the breakout rooms.”

Since there were 7 participants, he formed two teams:

🟦 Team 1: Hali & Ali (and friends). Their quest:

🌲 You’re walking in a forest and find a broken bridge. What will you do?
Use the four steps and create a story!

Basically: engineering + creativity + survival skills = GO!

🟩 Team 2: Haniya & Wiati (and friends). Their quest:

🧌 A troll blocks your path… and he looks hungry. How do you get past him?
Use the four steps and make a story!

This is classic fairy-tale logic. Trolls are always hungry. Kids are always ready.

After adventuring, kids reappeared in the main room.
Team 1 finished their story. Team 2 finished theirs too.

Yesterday felt like watching a bunch of young heroes slowly discover their superpowers: courage, teamwork, curiosity, and the bravery to say, “Sorry, I don’t understand,” and try again.

If this is how the pre-bootcamp energy feels…

(Quick feedback: Wiati opened with confidence and charm — and her ability to riff about Bali weather was unintentionally hilarious.)

The session kicked off with Wiati bringing us into a mini world-tour of rain, ceremonies, and school life in Bali. She told us how rain in Bali is NOT a holiday sign — nope! It’s the opposite: rain means school is still on!
This moment was so real it had even the adults nodding and laughing.

And while everyone was settling in, sharing weekend vibes, and popping into the call one by one, kids showed something special — their growing ability to compare places, reflect on experiences, and express themselves casually but clearly.

That’s not small. That’s brain-gymnastics in action.

2. Part 1: “Giving Feedback” – Facilitated by Aira

(Quick facilitator feedback: Aira absolutely shined. Calm, thoughtful, and brave — she delivered her movie-based lesson with the confidence of someone twice her age.)

This part was the heart of the session.

Aira didn’t just talk — She brought us into the world of the movie Like Stars on Earth, the story of Ishan — a boy who struggles in school, feels misunderstood, and is drowning in unkind comments.
So what did Aira do?

She used the movie to teach everyone about feedback treatment — how words can lift someone up, crush someone down, or help them grow.

She explained:

• Encouragement feedback = “Cheer up!”

• Helpful feedback = “Try this way instead.”

• Creative feedback = Using imagination and creativity to solve problems

And the kids went DEEP.

They gave their own examples of what feedback THEY would give Ishan:

• Kind advice

• Supportive ideas

• New ways of learning, doing and exploring things

• Words that would make him feel seen and understood instead of “wrong”

3. Part 2: “Responding to Feedback – Hosted by JFP

Next up: the acting arena!

Inspired by the movie “Inside Out”, Jfp guided kids through the Emotion Reaction Game, where everyone had to act out how they’d respond emotionally if people laughed at their new jacket.

And guess what?
At the end, kids voted for the best actors — with Aira, Sakha, and Kyla getting shoutouts!

This activity showed the group in:

• emotional awareness

• perspective-taking

• recognizing behavior patterns

• understanding themselves and others

Big brains, big hearts.

4. In Another Planet

A Little Secret From the Chat…

The chaos gremlins of the group (you know who you are 😏) started secretly creating their own “viruses.”

No worries — not the real kind.
The StORy-a-NIghI kind.

💬 Ale invented the“lAgGiNG!” virus
💬 Aira & Aya dramatized their “oH nO i’Ve GoT tHe viRUS” Oscar-worthy panic
💬 Sakha, from his acting in the first round, inspired these drama “queens” with the neext vii-rus. Aya even gave acting tips:

“You gotta make it more fear-like… uuhh g-guys y-you c-ca-ant…”

💬 Sakha added the plot twist:

“There’s one in our class…” 😳
💬 Ale immediately: “O-oH m-y G-OD”

And all of this came from Sakha’s earlier acting in the Anxiety/Mumbling emotion — which apparently unlocked an entire multiplayer virus roleplay universe 😂

Honestly?
This is EXACTLY the kind of creativity we love — spontaneous, funny, imaginative, and rooted in emotional expression.

So yes…
Your kids left the session smarter, braver, AND apparently ready to produce their own sci-fi series.

✨ When someone gave a vague answer, he didn’t let it slide.

✨ When someone repeated the same idea, he nudged them to go deeper.

✨ When ELF said, “It’s difficult because it’s… tedious,” he smiled and said:

“Tedious means difficult, so why is it really hard?”

🧠 What the Kids Said (And What It Reveals About Their Thinking)

Across both teams, the kids mapped out surprisingly insightful reasons ideas are tough to carry out:

💎Team 1 Summary:

• Strengths: Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, introspective thinking

• Challenges: Hard time converting feelings into action steps

• Mindset style: “My inside world affects my outside actions.”

• Learning implication: They need concrete tools (checklists, planning steps) to turn reflections into execution.

Team 1 is the group that feels first, thinks second, acts last — which is completely normal and very promising. Their reflections show excellent foundations for long-term growth.

💎 Team 2 Summary:

• Strengths: Logical thinking, practical awareness, realistic perception of obstacles

• Challenges: Hesitation, fear of imperfect timing, tendency to feel “overwhelmed”

• Mindset style: “The outside world affects my ability to act.”

• Learning implication: They need confidence-building, encouragement, and action-first strategies.

Team 2’s mindset leans toward clarity, realism, and systemic thinking, which is a wonderful foundation for leadership.

⭐ Spotlight: JFP’s Breakthrough Moment

Here’s where the magic really happened.

JFP broke his own pattern.

Instead of racing through answers, he paused with each kid’s response, helping them:

• refine vague ideas

• understand the question deeper

• challenge fluffy or circular logic

• articulate clearer thoughts

• stay accountable to reasoning

This is huge.

Facilitation is a skill that requires patience, active listening, and critical thinking on your toe — and in this session, JFP demonstrated all three.

When a participant gave a looping answer (“It’s difficult because it’s difficult”), JFP didn’t dismiss it. He guided them back gently until a real thought appeared.

That’s a massive leap in leadership, confidence, and cognitive empathy.

He didn’t just host the discussion.

He shaped it.

Shoutout to JFP — the participants weren’t the only ones growing.

🔥 2. Teamwork Spark by Sakha 🔥

Next up was Sakha, who took over the virtual stage like a young professor with confidence, clarity, and the smoothest storytelling energy.

He introduced the idea of a Teamwork Spark — the moment one person takes action, and suddenly everyone else follows like a chain reaction.

He explained it through a relatable story:

Imagine your team is called on stage for a performance. Everyone’s frozen. Heart pounding. Stage fright activated.

Then one brave soul steps forward…

and BOOM — the whole team follows.

🌟 Why Teamwork Spark Matters for Idea Execution:

Because no idea survives alone.

Even a tiny moment of courage — someone starting, someone apologizing first, someone stepping forward — can:

• break hesitation

• reduce fear

• activate motivation

• build trust

• turn ideas into real actions

In simple kid-language:

“One spark makes the whole team light up.”

And that’s how we can solve most of the challenges that make executing ideas so hard (sometimes :) )

Meet the Guardians of Ambassadors Initiative

After the Sustainability bootcamp, we realized something powerful: our young ambassadors were ready to PAY IT FORWARD. They’d learned so much, grown so much, and now they wanted to help others start their journey too.

So, as per request of Super Parent Group in Yogja - Guardians of the Ambassadors, led by Ms. Zoura, Ms. Fitria, Ms. Anggun, Ms. Sinta, Ms. Rafa and many other parents, we started the Beginners Series—a space where experienced young ambassadors step up to guide newbies on their first steps toward global citizenship. No stuffy adults lecturing. Just kids empowering kids.

The Mission? Create a ripple effect. One empowered kid lights up another, who lights up another... BOOM! 💥
