25.05.08: More Than Just a Word Game (Every Thursday)
Inside a Session Where Vocabulary Sparked Confidence and Critical Thought
A. THE SUMMARY
Summary of the Session:
This week’s session was full of playful energy, thoughtful moments, and critical learning breakthroughs.
From the beginning, students were met with warm greetings and reflective questions: "What did you do today? Did you help your mom? Did you read a book?" This casual check-in gave each child a chance to warm up their English in a meaningful and personalized way.
But the real spark came when the Guessing Game began.
At first, things moved slowly. The concept of guessing letters, then words, was new and unfamiliar. Yet with gentle encouragement and peer translation support from students like Sri and Ary & Omitha, something shifted. Soon, students were not just guessing letters but strategically identifying entire words like Investigate, Book, Journal, and Experiment.
The session revealed just how powerful scaffolded play can be for:
Building vocabulary
Boosting real-time thinking
Encouraging teamwork and translation
Strengthening emotional reasoning
By the end, students weren’t just playing. They were reflecting on the art of learning itself.

In response to the reflective Question"How to Win the Game?" — Participants share some interesting thoughts 💭
Anguma: "Strong, confident, and knowledge." — Reflects a knowledge-based mindset. => “What’s more important — confidence or curiosity?” “Can you think of a time when confidence wasn’t enough?”
Ary & Omitha: "Experience." — Implies the value of continuous try and application in new environment => “What kind of experience helped you most?” “How can you turn an experience into a lesson for next time?”
Ratna: "Think calmly and you'll get the explanation quickly." — Demonstrates reflective control and learning process awareness. => “What helps you stay calm when others are rushing?” “Can you apply this calmness when solving something difficult under time pressure?”
These aren't just cute comments. They show early signs of strategic thinking, emotional regulation, and growth orientation — traits we strive to cultivate in Global Citizens.
