Here are three Questions for everyone Who has read Susbstack. Optimal Design - Chapter 28

1. To What Extent Does Lyra's approach to listening to the villagers before offering solutions contribute to her effective leadership, and would a more authoritative approach have been more effective? Explain

2. Did Lyra's status as an outsider hinder or help her abillity to Influence the community ? Provide arguments for and against the Idea that being an outsider was a key factor in her leadership success.

3. How Did Sila's past experiences shape his leadership style, and what specific factors led to his transformation after working with Lyra? Was this change a strategic move or a genuine shift in leadership philosophy ?

B. Easy Questions

( Optimal Design - 28 )

1. Does being an outsider make it easier or more difficult for Lyra to lead?

2. Why should leaders give others opportunities, rather than simply giving orders?

3. Why should a good leader serve others, not dominate them?

C. Medium Questions

( Optimal Design - 28 )

1. How Does the stories show that tree leadership is about surfing others Rather than controlling them?

2. What lesson about humility can be learned from the way Silas accepted Lyra's Ideas? Does this show strength or weakness in a leader?

3. How Does Lyra combine practicality with empathy in her leadership, and why is this important?

D. Hard Questions

( Optimal Design - 28 )

1. How Might Lyra's Identity as an outsider allow her to question long-standing assumptions in the community, and to what degree does this position create resistance that she must overcome?

2. Can A Leader truly be considered effective if they only Issue commands Without Creating Opportunities for others to grow? In what situations might strict control be more beneficial that empowerment?

3. In the context of the story, how does serving others redefine the meaning of power in leadership ? Could leadership that focuses on service be seen as a radical shift from traditional authority structures ?

( Please read the questions and answer them carefully, Anyone on the Jogjakarta Team, please respond and share your experiences. The Bali Team is doing the same. Even BLC OP, ELF 001, CHILLI, LUNA, and other members are part of this program. Thank you. The report is complete. )

My first question is how do you create a better, more optimal design for the session itself, to engage and include everyone? How do you guys suggest Anguma for a more optimal design for her desk so that she does not feel sleepy during the session 😄 (Chilli suggested not using dim light, and use a hard chair). Elf001 misunderstood the Challenge and Wybie/ BLCOP who designed the challenge didn't realize it till Chilli asked. Identifying what's optimal what's not is easy, what can you do from that? Not many questions coming in during the Presentation part, we can't allow answers of "I have no question" from participant, especially Ambassadors. Anguma needs to focus and questions need to be better articulated, better write down before speaking so you can organize your thought better. Half of the ambassadors didnt present Weekly challenge (Chilli - bcos challenge was released late, Minh Anh - prepared her challenge but seems that it's a wrong challenge). Good participation from Wiati in her first session. Wybie & Elf001 need another call for Chilli/ Luna/ Minh Anh & new members to make sure they are in all platforms needed

Rully answer for chapter 30

1. I think both can be done achieved namely new connection and skill improvement

2. The solution if the project fails is to identify the cause, the lesson learned and document the faillure

3. Failure is delayed success. Changing the way of dealing with failure are namely accepting failure as a process, not giving up, and continuing to give up or to try. Doing analyze for the lessons

Optimal design =process of creating the "best" possible solution for a system, device, or experiment by using optimization techniques to meet specific objectives and requirements, often involving trade-offs between competing goals(Dhira)

Hi Team,

There were a lot of great questions during this session—impressive work all around. It’s a strong start.

As I mentioned earlier, Anguma still needs to lean in more on the ad hoc thinking and optimal design components. That said, we must stay agile and flexible, and the best way to do that is by consistently responding to spontaneous questions and thinking about how we can build and sustain momentum. It will be more natural and more vibrant.

Anguma:

Please prepare the following:

Ask 3 sets of questions in this chapter as comments. Get all members to respond - including BLCOP / ELF / CHILLI / LUNA

Review the latest post here:

This is linked to yesterday’s training.

Share your key learning from the post—keep it brief and focused.

Chilli – Here’s your guide for your session this Friday (8:30 PM Singapore Time):

1. [10 minutes] Chapter 28

Read Anguma’s questions and everyone’s responses.

Invite comments from members who haven’t posted yet. Help them ease into it—ask simple questions first, then move deeper.

Example questions:

What does “optimal design” mean to you?

Can you think of where you’ve seen this in your life?

Have you noticed this in school, on YouTube, TikTok, or other platforms?

What traits are you hoping to develop in this area?

2. [25 minutes] Chapter 29

(Split into 10 min + 15 min)

Theme: Sensing Opportunities

Ask members:

How did you sense opportunities during school or last summer?

Can you relate this to our bootcamp in Bac Ninh?

Then, Miss Ayaz will take over for up to 15 mins:

She’ll highlight members who commented on Chapter 29 and invite them to expand briefly.

3. [5 minutes] Chapter 30

Provide a short summary of Chapter 30.

Mention the traits and key takeaways.

Offer a hint or teaser to prompt further thought.

4. [10 minutes] Gallery Segment – “Many Voices, One World”

Ayaz, please coordinate with Cloudy.

Present the latest artefact submitted for the challenge.

Briefly explain its background and connection to the overall theme.

5. [5 minutes] Conclusion + Q&A

Quick check-in: “How do you feel?”

Wrap up the session and handle any final thoughts or questions.

Remind members: if they have more questions, they can leave them in the comments section of the Substack post—we’ll respond before the next session.

Looking Ahead:

Chilli, please coordinate with Ming Anh and Luna to bring them on board for the next session.

Still no updates from Victor, Emma, or Richard—so we’ll assume they are stepping back unless we hear otherwise.

Thanks everyone—looking forward to Friday’s session!

In life, cooperation is very important, but what is more important is to always be open to good new ideas.

I am very happy to join this program, I thought I could follow it easily because I can speak English but after entering this program I felt confused, it turns out my ability is not enough for everything so I still need to study diligently. almost every day I take extra lessons at home, it all makes me very busy until I forget to do my homework. but actually I like getting learning experiences like this, meeting foreigners even if it's just virtual.

After reading this material, I was thinking that if I met someone who had a different opinion with me, I would try to combine my ideas with theirs, and that mixed idea would turn into something more amazing and usefull.

I'd like to ask questions in every session. However, my questions might be disrupting the session's time or being unclear. I don't understand why that happens. All I know is I just want to know. I know where I am right now, where I am, and what I'm facing. This is where I need to participate well, or perhaps more than that. However, I encountered a problem in yesterday's session. It was related to what I experienced during the session. As Ms. Lin said, I was indeed sleepy. But there's still time in the future to... improve and learn things for myself and make the position useful for my experience, that's me. I need to know how a seedling can grow roots within a few days due to the influence of water, and why this can happen. If I still had doubts, I probably wouldn't have acted. There's no such thing as caring for a plant if you don't see any action of fertilizing, watering, giving it or transplanting it.to a place or land that is so fertile.

I am happy to be part of this program, thank you for your input and my way to improve myself is to better understand the topics discussed and study harder than before. So that I can keep up with all my friends' English skills in explaining topics and so that they can ask more questions.

This session is the one I've been waiting for the most, because it discusses how to become a good entrepreneur. And because of this material I am increasingly interested in becoming a successful entrepreneur in the future. And I apologize for coming back early because I have an event at home
